We still get more out of the game than most realize. It doesn't get the attention that some of the other bowls do, but we still get an ESPN game at a time no one else is on and get a game all our recruits can watch.

The Bowl game has sort of become a rite of passage in Jonesboro. Schools are giving excused absences to kids who go to the game more and more, recruits are used to us playing then and tune in. Razorbacks are never playing at that time in any sport, so we get full attention of the state.

I could see that it would be a tough time for someone whodidnt go to the bowl game very often, but we've fallen in love with it.

RE: Irritable Bowl Syndrome
Schools aren't just giving excused absences to students, some of the schools are allowing teachers to take the Monday after the game off. Friend went in and asked his principal about going and the principal said, "Since I'm going I'm approving leave for everyone else going." :)

Why ESPN likes the slot is simple, it draws an audience of 1 million to 2 million in that slot.

What I don't understand is why they don't do it with a Mountain Time Zone game (where the start would be 7pm local) or Pacific Time Zone game (6pm local) where at least one of the teams would have a fan base and casual fans not looking to finish the game after 11pm or after midnight. The time slot favors western viewers but there are never western teams in the game.
