OT - Brown Field in Green Bay
The brown field today in Green Bay was kinda cool, but didn't that give the 49er's an unfair advantage with their brown uniforms?

By the way, just what was that brown stuff they were playing on today?

That brown stuff is called dead grass and dirt. It is pretty common in the Midwest and Northeast at this time of year, assuming the ground is not covered by snow. You should have probably known that being from the Midwest; Hell Soldier Field looked like that just last week.

AState's field used to look like that every November. Bermuda grass in Arkansas turns brown around Halloween.

The grass isn't dead. It's dormant. No different than warm-season grasses turning brown in cold temps. Just takes lower temps for cool-season grasses to turn brown.

Also, Lambeau Field has a hybrid turf system. Artificial fibers are intertwined throughout the real grass on the field. Denver also has this system. The field was in fine shape for play with the underground heating system. Didn't notice many slips and the field had no bearing on play. They could have painted it green as some southern golf courses do with their dwarf warm-season greens.

Although Lambeau has Kentucky Bluegrass sod which has a great winter hardiness there is a point where even it cant survive or at least remain green.
