hey missj, someone wants to come to section 107A and watch the game with me. imagine that? its like a small miracle. there are more than a few reasons that he would actually come watch the game with me. in no particular order...one, he isn't gutless, two, he doesn't find fault with me that I sometimes question the wonderfully gifted head coach (heaven forbid), three, he isn't a jerk. and maybe just maybe he values my thoughts about the Tigers. come on Jedi. this is a big stretch/reach. there is something wrong with all four lines you wrote. line 2 is like really crazy. line 3 is way way off if you really knew me, which brings me to line 4, if you really knew me you would like me (im easy to get along with go ask 450Bench) thus you would be my friend which then line 3 becomes untrue.

You've seen very little to zero emotion from even thru this enter rollercoaster season.

You also don't see emotional rants from me everytime something goes wrong or we lose a game.

You also don't see me telling other posters to "come see me face to face" every other day just because they disagreed with me.

Just my opinion, but at this level basketball is more than "just a game." How much more is an undefinable variable.

Lots at stake for many of the players, the University, the coaches, etc. And lots and lots of $$.

That said, as a fan, neither do I see it as "life or death" which is often used in tandem with "just a game."

I believe that each of us probably occupy our own unique position on the scale of interest ranging somewhere between "just a game" and "life or death". Somewhere between the polar opposites of that scale you will probably find something like "don't let your life's attitude revolve around contests between 18-20 year old athletes".

But, I contend that it is futile to expect other fans to share your own specific level of interest or reaction to a loss. And that seems to be the cause of some of the hostility.

For me, I still take losses pretty hard; but not nearly as hard as I once did. And, like many others, I use this board to simply debate with other fans why we lost or discuss what we "think" we can do better. Helps a little bit to get the loss off your chest.

what you say here may very well be true. the problem with it is that you want to lump me in with what you describe here. you don't know me. If the Tigers win, that's great. if they lose, it doesn't send me into some cry pool.
