Played a bad game today, but 2 positives
If we played this as a final OOC game, and then were facing a CUSA slate, we would never get out of the shadow of this, and listen to all the BS about not winning big games. Of course this year, we have a ton of chances, including our very next game. While this game exposes some things we need to work on, it is an aberration overall
Second, we just manufactured an opportunity for a win over another ranked team....when we play at Cincinnati. They should enter the top 25 after this one

If we keep playing 4 guards all year, I agree...

Yep. Expectations of rolling through unblemished, as usual, have certainly been squashed. Hopefully, we will make the tourney and having played tougher opponents
will serve us well.

This. I expected to win against Cincy at home, but we just flat got punched in the face & laid down. Playing in this tougher conference will make our young guys toughen up more & everyone will have to learn quicker, including Josh. In the end, it'll benefit us in march as long as we don't lay too many eggs.

Memphis should have beaten Cincy. Poor coaching by Pastner loss this game.... Cincy didn't particularly do too much to have won by 15 points.

I believe that to some degree, but to win you have to be better than the opponent. Getting beat doesn't make us a better program. The quote "either got it or you don't"

If you learn a lesson and don't make the same mistakes next time, then yes, you do indeed get better, regardless of whether you get beat or not.

I didn't think that there was anything positive about today's game. It was a stinker from head to toe. Yes, the schedule is a positive I suppose.

I thought we already learned our lesson @ Oklahoma State.

If we get blown out by Loserville next game I see no positives to getting blown out by Cincy

Our seniors are slow learners because the results are the same. And at some point we need to accept the humbled limitations of this senior group.

We played better today than we did at OK state.
It doesn't mean we played anywhere near our potential or put out the effort we should have, though. This was a lousy game for players & coaches alike.

If we get blown out by Louisville, then this team is in a world of trouble.
We need to come out swinging on Thursday, and play our tails off. Even a close, hard-fought loss shows that Josh got their attention. I think we'll be pleasantly surprised.

We have the players to win but not if Josh keeps the 3 guard line up. Play 2 guards. Rotate the 4 bigs and use King/Iverson at the 3. King is a 3 not a 4. Pastner has the players to create matchup problems for the other team but by playing small ball he's giving that potential advantage away.

The 3 guard lineup will have to do until King, Wilson or Iverson are ready. I personally think King would be if he knew he would get 20 minutes and was allowed to play through his mistakes.

I say they need to work Iverson in there a little with Pellom, and Dixon off the bench. Iverson might struggle a little but the upside for him is better than anyone.

RE: Played a bad game today, but 2 positives
Most teams in the country lose a game early- then lose- get this- another game in the middle of the season- then- get this- lose another game late in the season.
Because the other team is trying to win too.
We will lose a few more- and with each- some will believe the basketball world has ended and there is little way to fix the problem. But- losing seldom means more than a problem in THAT GAME. It is not always systematic.
There will be games down the line where the bigs play well and make quick buckets after passes or kick it out to open shooters and cutters. There will be games down the line where the bigs play poorly.
There will be games down the line where playing the 4 guards creates tons of turnovers and Memphis layups and wins and there will be games down the line where the 4 guards miss too many shots or do not help rebound enough that it will cost the team.
We have a really good team that played poorly today to another real good team and lost. Not likely to happen many more times.
Come March- playing more good teams, even with some additional losses, should bode well.
