I'm wondering if the shift from C-USA to the AAC where they played a big strong o-line just wore the d-line down. Isn't this something that transitional teams should consider when recruiting to try and compete at a higher level? It's my observation anyway after watching Houston's defense against bigger o-lines.

ZING you win the thread. Nails it. 04-cheers

Same goes for our OL against other teams DLs.

Like South Florida's manhandling ours on both sides of the ball.

I was going to attend the game, but had to work 6 basketball games that morning, didn't get away in time to get there for the rest. Houston did make a run at them in that 2nd half, though. I didn't see a lot of TV stadium pans to gauge the crowd size, the one or 2 I did see indicated a pretty large turnout, a shame that the bowl's sponsor is pulling out after this season. Anyway, aside from the game's outcome (Case Keenum took my UAB Blazers down through there on that very field a couple of seasons ago), was wondering how the overall game fan experience was for any UH fans that made the trip to Birmingham.

Good luck in the new conference in the meantime.

Not so sure about that. Vandy was a good opponent. The 24 point comeback by Houston showed determination in the face of adversity. I thought Vandy had a couple better players on each side of the ball. No shame in this loss. Just get better next year.

Pretty much everybody is coming back next year. We'll be better. 04-cheers

O'Korn kind of fell apart at the end there. Made a tight game look like a blowout with that last TD.

The turnovers will kill you against good teams - we gave them too many free points.

When you're young though (O'Korn is not even 19), I expect that. Especially without an offseason to prepare. O'Korn plays very good sometimes, and there are times where he obviously looks like a true freshman.

I think next year our WRs should be the best in the Conference. Young, talented squad with speed/length.

Our OL play and running game needs to pick it up next year.

All and all, after we woke up (or adjusted) - thought we went toe to toe with Vandy for the most part. Just can't leave the defense to dry like that late on. And Trevon with some mistackles hurt.

Good scrimmage. Bodes well for the future. Have a very young team.

I am slightly concerned with Travis Bush. Although I think O'Korn was completely lost in the 1st half. What was amazing though is that we put up 339 yards in the 3rd quarter alone. The problem is with out offense though is that we haven't been consistent running the ball all year. Hard to rely solely on true freshman QB.

Next year should be promising.

The fourth quarter playcalling by Bush didn't exactly help O'Korn out. We should've kept attacking our first possession in the fourth quarter instead of throwing bubble screens and short-yardage slants. And you're absolutely right about the turnovers. Actually, you're right on all accounts.

EagleX: I equate our loss to a boxing match. While we were trying to find our footing, more or less, Vandy gave us a haymaker with that first touchdown that caught us off guard and pummeled us the entire first half, effectively stunning us. We woke up in the second half and started battling. When we finally got back on even footing, we stopped to catch our breath. That's when Vandy hit us with another haymaker -- going back to the run game -- that put us back down and ultimately out. That's the best way I can describe the loss.
