UL fans, what would you think?

I don't hate it but it doesn't really excite me either.

Cutcliffe is actually a good fit for Duke. I would be surprised if he would make a lateral move to Louisville.

That the feeling...he is a great fit for Duke...bad for Louisville...plus, doesn't he have some health/heart issues.

If Strong leaves would much rather go with a HC like Petrino or Morris.

Cutcliffe is too old to move, and too well liked at Duke. Louisville has a lot of money, but not the money of Duke's alums. Spurrier did not leave Duke for money, but to go home and to feed his ego.

If Charlie Strong didn't want to go to Knoxville State Community College, is Austin Polytechnic High School really that much different?

I have to agree with all of you (07 and lumber included). Cutcliffe's age seems a huge factor. I know we hired Tuberville at 58, but the guy doesn't drink, and looks like he's no more than 50.

Took a huge coaching job to push Duke to the top of its division.

That combined with their division being a huge steaming pile and their crossovers being a combined 2-14 in the ACC.

RE: Texas hires Strong
Strong's a great coach and he's turned UofL around but, let's be honest, he'd be insane not to accept the Texas job. There are too many reasons to go:

1. A huge pay raise ($3M is nice, but $5M is better)
2. Better recruiting (self-explanatory)
3. Better facilities (and the funds to upgrade them)
4. It's a destination job (UofL isn't)

Sorry, UofL fans, but you can't compete with Texas. If they call, he'll answer - or be the biggest fool in college football. Just hope you can compete in the ACC with Teddy and Charlie leaving.

Ready to move on. The fact that we could not win the weakest conference we have ever been in with one of the best teams we have ever had speaks volumes. Surprised that Texas even wants him.

This was part of Obrien negotiations too. Buyout paid by TX can be taxed for Strong.

Should be. He gains the Benefits of the Buyout. You get taxed on benefits at work. No difference. Texas fronting the money instead of Charlie.

Coach Strong is giving us a chance to match Texas' offer. I said just give it to him. We can afford it. And the guy really deserves a raise.

I would not match it...I would counter it but I could not give him Urban Meyer $$$. Another name that had popped up is Derek Mason Stanford DC...Like that option as well...07-coffee3
