Could it be that he see's the team regressing competitively with the loss of Teddy Bridgewater and some other good seniors and he wants to cash his chips in while he's winning? One thing I think hurts UofL is the very small fan base. It is tough to stroke a coach's ego when he can't get 70,000+ thousand fans into a stadium to watch him. All coach's want that kind of limelight. As a UofL fan, I know the last 4 head coaches have all complained about game attendance and fans at some point in their coaching stint. Can that be a part of the decision to move on? Is that a common theme across college football regardless? Or, is the problem that UofL either can't or won't match the money that Texas is willing to pay?

If coach strong leaves I wish UofL could find a coach with Louisville, Kentucky or UofL ties. I don't think there is much of a pool out there to choose from in those categories.

I can't really blame Charlie Strong for leaving for Texas. For one thing it is a lot more money. I think Texas is the number 1 job in college football by a clear margin. He's going to a place where 4 and 5 star recruits are rushing to come to Texas. The pressure's going to be a bit higher than Louisville, with all of those boosters sticking their noses in there. I hope he does well there. He brought Louisville back from the disaster that your previous coach had put the school in. I think for Charlie Strong he's very goal oriented and is going to show all those people who said he could never be a head coach, and what better place than Texas. The resources will enable him to compete for national championships every year.

1. A huge pay raise ($3M is nice, but $5M is better)
2. Better recruiting (self-explanatory)
3. Better facilities (and the funds to upgrade them)
4. It's a destination job (UofL isn't)

Sorry, UofL fans, but you can't compete with Texas. If they call, he'll answer - or be the biggest fool in college football. Just hope you can compete in the ACC with Teddy and Charlie leaving.

strong was getting 3.7 not 3 at Louisville. The rest I guess are true even though being at texas takes some of strong's strength away as a florida recruiter especially. Texas isn't the destination it once was.

He won't have to worry. Texas is the number 1 destination for football players in the state. He'll do just fine. He probably won't have to recruit florida any more. Texas pays a lot but there is a lot of pressure. Hope he can take it. He's going to be under the microscope there. I guess he is making $5+ million at Texas.
