Per @coachingsearch...

Cincinnati defensive coordinator Art Kaufman and defensive tackles coach Fred Tate are out, a source tells me. http://goo.gl/d0NfcI

Seriously. Someone tell me this is a bad joke.

Hands up. Who thought our DC or DL coach was the weak link with our performance. Buehler...? Must mean Eddie Gran is getting a raise.

Christ, Tate was the only coach on our sideline who could fog a mirror during a game.

Unless we have replacements lined up with uber recruits in pocket, this is troubling on multiple levels.

Were they fired or are they going to a different program? I thought our defense looked good this year.

Didn't Kaufman come close to leaving last winter just after he first took the job? Kinda gave me a sense he wouldn't be here long term so this doesn't come as a huge surprise.. Too bad, I thought he did a decent job.

TT brings guys here from his last job. These are not new dudes that just were not a good fit. They perform. Dang. Maybe they called BS on some of the things that drove a lot of us batsh!t this season.

If our special teams coach retains his job, he must have pics of someone partying with Larry Eustacy at a sorority.

First guy left. I think ECU made a run at Kaufman.

RE: Art Kaufman/Fred Tate Gone
At the end of the day, I don't think this is a big deal. These guys were non factors when it came to recruiting and I can't remember having someone coach only the DTs on a staff this size. Maybe TT is trying to gat a little more bang for the buck.

Can't recall his name but the DB coach last year split for the NFL(Eagles) a month or so into the job and then we hired Clinkscale. These guys are nomads.

Considering Art and Fred were directly involved in a whopping 2 current commits recruitment I'm not sure what the big deal is.

John Lovett left to coach the secondary for the Eagles and there was some talk of Kaufman taking the ECU DC job last year but nothing came of it.

Seriously, you seem hell bent on gloom and doom when it come to all things TT. We lost two assistants.... as if that's something that has never happened before with the UC football program. If we start becoming an annual revolving door for coaches like we were under minter, maybe I'll worry. But there could be a dozen reasons why these two are leaving and we don't know squat. So to assume the worst or that it's somehow further evidence of TT's incompetence is a bit of a stretch.

Now tracking on our 3rd DC in 53 weeks. That in itself is a pretty big deal.

Who was TT yelling at on the sidelines during a recent game? Was it one of the guys leaving?

Think it was Prunty near the end of the Houston game.

If you don't think this is odd or in the least bit remarkable, bless you for accepting it without raising an eyebrow. I won't knock you for it, despite not agreeing with your assessment. This was a top 25 D this season...unless there is a personality conflict or a big philosophical change in scheme is in the works this is surprising to me...and I would venture I am not alone.

Lets put it this way, IMO Kaufman did his job as well or better than any guy on this staff this year. Hell yes that is remarkable if he of all of the staff just got canned.

Wonder if this means there is a 3-4/4-3 swap in the offing for year #2.
