Anyone else watching Tulane v. Hofstra
Hofstra has one player dominating the game at the half.

Barely but yes.

Tulane 61 Hofstra 58
Final

Tulane was down 58-54 with less than 2 minutes to go. Technical foul on Hofstra with 90 seconds left was key. Also, with Tulane up 59-58, Hofstra missed a layup with 10 seconds left. Tulane got the rebound, was fouled, and made both to ice it.

Basically Tulane MBB is a disaster area. We have just closed out the OOC phase of our schedule at 8-7 and our best wins are against Jackson State (4-8, SWAC) and Northeastern (3-10, Colonial).

As we go into the conference schedule, 9-7 is probably the absolute maximum possible result. And even that would require a lot of good luck and a few upsets. 4-12 or 5-11 is most likely.

Our HC is in his 4th season. There is some talk on the Tulane boards that our AD has made a private commitment to let him return next year regardless of how this season turns out. I don't know if that's true, but it would be terrible if it happens.

RE: Anyone else watching Tulane v. Hofstra
Dickson's unlikely to fire him because a) he likes him and doesn't really want to and b)Dickson can leave it to the next AD, figuring he's on his way out with a new Pres coming in. He has a long history of pampering non-performing coaches, so this will be more of the same.
On the other hand, some of the money people may demand a change; and we can't, with a straight face, bring the Citadel model into the next conference.

It'll take one humbling season in the AAC to get rid of Conroy. He's just in over his head. If Football continues to rise, then few will care anyway, unless we hit rock-bottom in Basketball, which is possible.

I disagree with you guys. I feel like he is a good coach. he just added williams as a coach. his teams play hard. The talent in the freshman class i think is pretty good. Its a young team. Future is good.

Is that a joke pablo? Year 4 and he has yet to have a good year, constantly losing to bad teams, has very few if any marquee wins, has little respect from players, and has terribly recruited. Right now the team has 3, THREE, d1 quality players o the entire roster.

Look. Lets be real. We haven't had anything to recruit to since 2005. Not just Katrina but also the losses of quality teams in basketball to the big east in 2003. This gave all schools except Memphis a depression on recruiting. I'm not saying Conroy is the next coach K but he has the things that I believe Tulane has needed and that is I believe he is a hard worker and a good coach. Kids do get better under him. Unlike our perry Clarke who took all stars and made them average by the time they left or got better after they left. It's complicated and the answer may be we can get a name coach now that we are in a big time basketball conference again. I'm hopeful either way. I will admit I have an optimistic nature anyway. We will know though soon enough when conference starts. Boy I sure would love to have those three that transferred to add to dabney, stark, payten, hook. We would be strong.

He clowned around with his recruiting for 3 years. Didn't take it seriously. He came in well after the bad effects of Katrina, just in time for the outstanding practice facility...Fogelman has since been upgraded.
His staff was a joke. When there's finally an opening, he hires an old veteran coach instead of the recruiter they needed. There was an obvious problem with the staff and, heck, when they couldn't keep their best players happy, they should have all been jettisoned. (it wasn't just Tarrant and Davis unhappy).

Williams was a good add, but he needs more assistants particularly recruiters. The one recruit we signed looks really good, but we had 2 schollies to give and couldn't fill them with quality.
