So does that make South Carolina national champs?

By the same 01-wingedeagle logic

Eastern Washington > Oregon State > Washington State > USC > Stanford > Oregon > Tennessee > South Carolina > Central Florida > Baylor > Oklahoma > Alabama

Eastern Washington > Oregon State > Washington State > USC > Stanford > Oregon > Tennessee > South Carolina > Central Florida > Baylor > Oklahoma > Alabama

North Dakota St. > Kansas St. > Michigan > Notre Dame > Michigan St. > Nebraska > Georgia > LSU > Auburn
and Michigan St. > Stanford

So clearly North Dakota St. should be playing Florida St. for the BCS title.

A long, long time ago, the basketball team of the Division II school I attended beat Air Force who beat a PAC 10 school who beat national champion UCLA. I guess that made my school the real DI champs that year.

It'll happen.

Rank 1-8 at the end of the season (extra points for winning your conference and heavy emphasis on SOS to create a new incentive to play real OOC games and not cupcakes like the current system incentivizes) seed them accordingly

That's fair to everyone and will make CFB fun again when your season isn't over as soon as loss #1 happens and you have a reason to schedule better OOC competition

This, exactly. Next year, for example, we get a few good early non-con games like Oregon-Mich. St., Florida St.-Okla. St., UCLA-Texas, and Clemson-Georgia again. We need more games like those, and the system has to stop penalizing teams for playing those games.

Fella, in about two months -- during the height of the "silly" off-season -- this thread will look like a nominated "Thread of the Year" candidate.

It is an old mindset back to when each conference had their own bowl game and the conference champs did not play each other except in the Rose Bowl. I have to knock you down to show I am better. That is how we would have split national champions because there were two or three undefeated teams. The power was in the media hands.
