I knew Moscow was small but had no idea the MSA was THAT small. It's a shame UofI is so far from Boise (and the drive so difficult). The university has suffered as a result.

918,301 is the population within 50 miles of Mobile. Amtrak numbers.

Several cities listed if anyone cares?

Wow now I really feel at a disadvantage competing in a state with 12 FBS programs...

And don't forget those 2 awesome professional teams...lol.02-13-banana

Maybe you can't do math, but it's the 5th biggest city on the OP.

Growth 3x the rate of ATL. Yeah, that it kinda funny.

Well funny is you thinking 1) we care 2) any FBS conference will take you or 3) an 18% from 77k or 247k in 10 years is impressive. I live in a county with 750k residents and its not even the Atlanta Metro's most populous county. As a Metro Area we have on average added 100k residents a year since 1980. I have lost track as to how many recessions that includes where that pace never has slowed. To give you an idea, Dekalb had a 22% increase in population from 1990 to 2000 or 120k people. Gwinnett County had an increase from 2000 to 2010 37% or 217k people. Henry County had an increase of 71% from 2000 to 2010 or about 85k people. Fulton County added 57k residents from April 2010 to July 2012. So if you were interrupting an SBC thread in the hopes of impressing us...

All that growth in Atlanta is good? Considering half of that is Yankees transferring with their company and the people have the pleasure of driving on 8-lane "streets" to go to the grocery store, I'd say it's passed time to resurrect Sherman and strike a match.

Atlanta is probably the most generic example of Urban Sprawl and concrete ugliness in the nation

Lol. You have to have grown up somewhere pretty backwards to say that an issue with Atlanta is it's full of "yankees." Regarding the 8-lane street, i assume you're talking about the interstate. However, for some of us, the ability to walk around and take trains around the city is better than having to drive a car no matter where you want to go, which is what Statesboro offers.

If that's the case I guess we can claim Montgomery (374,556)

Mobile MSA is 602,877 plus Pensacola (461,227) is 45 miles to the east. Gulfport-Biloxi - Pascaquola MSA (379,582) is 45 miles to the west. To the north is Washington County (17,000). If you count the adjacent counties in Mississippi then that is about 1.5 million people living within a 60 mile radius of dowtown Mobile.

It seems to me that the Sun Belt has more potential fan support than some would have us believe.

Indeed. A given school in a metropolitan area might have 1,000,000 potential viewers but often also has 5 other programs in the area competing for those same viewers.

I remember reading somewhere that Statesboro, Savannah and Hinesville was the fastest growing region (percentage wise) in the South second to the Auburn, Opeklia, and Columbus region. The two areas have certainly grown rapidly over the last couple years.

That is why South Alabama home games should not be schedule at same time of Alabama and Auburn games.

I disagree with you strongly regarding scheduling of USA home games. USA football games should be at NIGHT during September and October due to heat issues. In November, we can play around with the schedule to optimize the schedule.

USA has a core attendance of 15k. The swing is more related to weather than UA or Auburn.

You are welcome to that opinion. Have fun playing F_U, UNT, UNCC, UTSA, and ODU (plus UAB) in your obviously superior conference.

You can talk about being left behind all you want, but when la Tech enters The Swamp next year and leaves with a 30 points ass whipping we will revisit this supposed separation.
