College Athletics Revenues and Expenses - 2008
Revenue junkies may find this interesting. Breaks revenue down by

TICKETS STUDENTS AWAY_GAMES DONATIONS UNIVERSITY MEDIA_RIGHTS BRANDING

http://espn.go.com/ncaa/revenue

Also breaks down expenses. Interesting that Purdue has the highest Big Ten marketing expenses, but that is only good for #12 overall.

Sorting by student subsidies yields a surprising top 10.

UCF
2 FIU
3 Akron
4 Miami (OH)
5 South Florida
6 Virginia
7 East Carolina
8 Kent State 791
9 Toledo

I wonder what the technicalities are between student fees and university contributions.

It's not university contributions. It's fees imposed by the university on the students for performing specific tasks, allowing student access to equipment, etc.
