Not really. We don't have to be in the same conference with Texas to pull Texas recruits. I don't see any other reason. A SEC with the two Oklahoma's would be a better SEC. We can still play Texas every year.
Potentially, Oklahoma could start a tradition of playing Texas A&M on Thanksgiving week.
I would like that tradition. Our biggest mistake was not accepting the offer from Slive when they invited A&M the first time.
I also would like to start a border war with Arkansas.

As of now it would not be much of a war. Arky hasn't won a conference game in a long time.
As much as OU & Okie State would want to be in the SEC, BYU & UCF would be more than replacements for the 2 OK programs. Would put the B12 in Florida with the largest university in the SE USA along with the largest university in the Western US and the face of the Mormon faith

Border wars are kinda like in state rivalries. It doesn't matter as much how well each team performs in their respective conference.
As for the second part of you post, I need a little clarification. I am not sure I am following you.

Believe he was trying to say that OU/OSU leaving the B12 is akin to removing your hand from a pail of water. I disagree regarding OU but it certainly applies to OSU. I hope the B12 stays intact, perhaps even with a few strategic additions?

Totally and absolutely disagree. Rather, Oklahoma U and Oklahoma State should be in the state of Texas with Longhorns. Losing the state of Texas and/or Longhorns (basically, the same thing) would be a disaster for OU and OSU. OU and OSU need Longhorns. Longhorns do not need OU or OSU.
Nope. We are tired of being associated with Texas and anything north of Kansas, with the exception of WVU is boring.
It's time for OU, OSU to revive their border war with Arkansas. Oklahoma and Alabama belong in the same conference.
Folks who haven't lived through it just don't understand Texas and the Big XII. I feel your pain.
