The Bright Side
Despite a terrible last two games, the past two seasons have been remarkable. At least we are not like North Carolina where 19 football players took a class they never attended and were given "A's". NIU has one of the best academic records in the NCAA and they need to keep that high integrity. That said, I think it is time to put up or shut up. Expectations have been raised and the only way to respond is to up the ante and go for a higher status. The MAC is a nice little conference and we can stay there and be competitive, but the fan base wants more. To get recognition in the Chicago market, NIU needs to play AQ schools and win. NIU needs money and lots of it. The Yordon and Chessick Centers are great. Now we need to increase enrollment, increase attendance, expand and upgrade the stadium, and move to a higher lever, AAC, or, eventually, Big 12. That's a tall order and I'm not sure they can do it, but I hope so.
