Iverson Is Going To Be Very Good
He isn't a team player, doesn't hustle enough and doesn't have a clue how to play D1 basketball. When he has the ball he is singularly focused on scoring and has a complete disregard for all of his teammates. He will grudgingly pass the ball only when he is sure that he can't score and he will almost always pass the ball to a teammate without thinking about the pass putting a teammate in a position to score the ball.

Having said that; he has a ton of talent. When he figures it out, he is going to be a terrific player for us. I have no idea when that will be.

I agree with you. I hope Nick and Kuran don't get down on themselves. It moves too fast for them now but if they work hard they will get it.

RE: Iverson Is Going To Be Very Good
Young players like King and Iverson are so used to everything revolving around them, it makes it hard to adjust to a team concept.

Think about Iverson ... always bigger and more athletic than the other teams best player. For his HS team, he was always the premier option, so he wasn't even supposed to play in a team concept ... in fact ... the team concept was to get it to him and let him go to work. It is a HUGE adjustment for him.

Right now, Iverson is struggling with his game (for the first time ever maybe) and his role on the team (for the first time ever maybe). Josh really needs to manage this. I hope he set the proper expectations, because that can be the real killer.

He is going to be a match up nightmare once he figures it out, I think it will probably be next year before that really happens.

RE: Iverson Is Going To Be Very Good
I was thinking about a way for Pastner to get him more minutes and start letting him develop. Obviously, at this point he is not ready to contribute significantly and cannot be played in crucial times of the game. I wish there was a way JP could sneak him in for a minute or two in the first half and tell him to play within the game and run the offensive sets and then reward him with more minutes does this. You really can feel the talent just oozing off of this kid, he just has to learn how to play with a team concept. When was in tonight you could hear JP screaming at him to move the ball and stop holding it almost every time. He has the advantage of having several unselfish seniors to learn from and thus I am not too worried about it at this point. The future of King, Iverson, Nichols, and Big Dom is very bright!

RE: Iverson Is Going To Be Very Good
Iverson does seem lost but he is a freshman that is no longer THE go-to guy. It is a huge leap from HS to major D-1 BB. Things really are moving too fast for him to keep up. He needs to learn this year, contribute when he gets his minutes at the end of games or during blowouts, and observe/learn from the senior leaders.

King seems to be getting it a bit better; he'll be a decent contributor by late February. Focus on those FTS!!

Woodson simply needs to drop 25 more pounds and ramp up the conditioning. I think that big guy will be a major surprise next season.

Nichols is obviously part of the mix, he just needs to add 20 pounds of muscle in thighs, chest, and arms. His inside game is good, work on box outs and rebounding.

I've learned not to expect much from freshman. Only the elite of the elite has the talent to overcome inexperience and even this group performs erratically.

We should remember freshman are only 17 to 19 years old.

Whats hard amount drive and kick or pass it to the open man, simple nuances of the game. I notice at one point in the game he pass the ball to a teamate and it was pass back to him where a driving lane became available and he scored because he made the one pass to the teamate.
At 6'10 he needs to be on the floor.

+1 yea> Joe & especially Dix were both very successful @ this and it was gr8 to see....Dix was even using the "off-foot eurostep" to get to the rim, it was Genobliesq as he even dropped off a couple of teardrop floaters in there... IVO did this as he took advantage of the space created by the pass.....so it looks like he is definitely learning....and will be a nice weapon @ some point for us>

I'm not sold on him. I think he'll be one of those guys that seems to have the tools but never puts it all together like his talent would suggest. It's early in his career but he's already older than most freshmen and is behind developmentally. Not a good combo. I'll do a cartwheel if I'm wrong and he turns out to be a stud, which hopefully happens.

Yeah people here don't seem to have noticed that red flag. He's way behind players his age, shoot he's behind 18 year olds.

RE: Iverson Is Going To Be Very Good
Team is playing a 7 man rotation- primarily.

Will be nice to have a few more options. King seems clearly to be the 8th- has had moments when he has been real good- but game still seems a bit fast for him- and yes need to get free throws up- has shown good basketball IQ and gets it...

Iverson, Woodson and Wilson will play some- at times Woodson, while a bit heave, looks quite solid- knows the game. Game seems too fast for Iverson right now but is quite possible it slows down for him.

My guess is 8 and 9 for the most part for the rest of the year will be King and Woodson, with Iverson- should he keep his head- moving way ahead for next season- and being a wild card even this year should he get real minutes allowing him to get to speed.
