RE: Laughable Basketball Scores
ESPN has it as its featured game, right up there with the top 25 scores on the score rail. Seems kind of gratuitous.

Now it's 98-10 with 8:13 left. Southern scored the game's first 44 points.

Southern scored the first 41, then called a timeout. After the timeout, CBC scored their first bucket. Those 41 unanswered points to start a game set an NCAA record.

Based on the box on ESPN, Southern was up 44-0 with 5:10 left when Champion hit a pair of free throws to break up the shutout. They didn't get a basket until 3:42 left in the half, which sparked a 4-1 run for them. It did not last.

That is how they explained it during the UT/UVA laugher on ESPN2. The commentator was probably mistaken.

Wonder how they segued into it. "Hey guys, you think this game blows, just imagine if you were watching Southern vs. Champion Baptist!"

I just hope C-USA doesn't invite them because they bring the Hot Springs, Arkansas market.

Maybe the Sun Belt is ready to triple-down in Arkansas?

As for the segue, he asked why this record breaking performance wasn't a bigger deal. Then the color-guy asked who was it against, giving him his answer.

RE: Laughable Basketball Scores
Champion Baptist is obviously not a school that places a priority on athletics. But even for them, 116-12 is a lot worse than what they've done so far: http://masseyratings.com/team.php?t=1444&s=203290

The Tigers are in some sort of competitive grouping called the "Association of Christian College Athletics", based in Joplin MO: http://www.accasports.org/about/About.html

Here is a current ranking of their members. Champion Baptist is near the middle: http://masseyratings.com/team.php?t=10413&s=203290

First half was 57-6
Second half was 59-6
Final 116-12

Southern's coach obviously wanted to maximize his margin of victory, for whatever reason.
