Beale Street Parade
Amid snow flurries a fun time. A shot of the MOB opening the parade and they came back to close it as well. I have a video I will try to get up later.

We only made it through one pad by the MOB. It was Cold. I could say I had only Mrs. Austinowl73's welfare in mind but I was perfectly happy to give up after the 4 th or 5 th high school band. Let's hope memphis got the snow out of its system today.

The Liberty Bowl committee is doing a great job and the parade was fun. Too bad it has been really cold. I will have to bring Mr Jack Daniels to the game tomorrow. I was wondering did majority of the Mob come to the parade late and marched at the beginning and then came through at the end of the parade without even playing?

Note to 13thOwl...perhaps you could consider Boll Weevil hats for the 2014 Reckling Campaign.

Actually, The MOB was at the beginning of the parade with cheer and dance team, in full music and not-marching strength.

We finished the parade really early, so decided to do it again, as a conga line. (One doesn't want to steal another band's musical spotlight, you know.)

Unconventional, and all that. Most of all, it was FUN!

RE: Beale Street Parade
I've been in a lot of parades, but this one had the least performing time for the amount of time spent waiting.
Total performing time: 10 minutes.
We were there from 1:30 until about 4:00 (that's when we got to the pep rally site).

The huge MSU band probably filled half of the route just standing there.

Still, it was great to see so many Owls in the crowd.
Something I spotted at the end of the parade route:

I missed the beginning of the parade and like many around me thought the MOB at the end was the only Rice appearance. Glad to hear they were in the parade earlier with dancers/cheerleaders/music.

I was Impressed that many of the HS bands were from far away places like Wisconsin and Virginia. I didn't like the very large gaps between many of the groups.

So... I wonder if the police officer pictured above has the war owl wings on the sides of his motorcycle helmet? This cop has connections!

The Citrus Parade in Orlando draws HS bands from around the country, too. They tend to get at least two college bands as well (from one or both of the bowl games). It is a very nice parade.
