You're not going back far enough. Plenty of us were already in the "Bailiff out" camp well before the end of 2013. Some us just didn't change camps after the 2013 conference title. I wanted something more substantial, more indicative of lasting progress. Suffice it to say that I never got it.

I mean, in this thread, Walt is ostensibly pro-Bailiff (though not pro-extension). Oh my, how times have changed.

You and Ranger were hardly being shouted down, ridiculed, or oppressed by the hoards of ardent Bailiff supporters, as suggested in the Charolette thread.

??? I have been very consistently anti-DB since the 2010 season. By that point I had seen enough to draw my own conclusions. The absolute last straw for me, as most who know me can attest to, was the promotion of Edmondson after the 2013 season.

He is a VERY good fit, despite my previously stated issues regarding his preparation, motivational and development skills (which still remain). I'm all for giving him a raise to his current salary (particularly if his current contract does not include a sizable bonus for a conference championship and bowl win), as well as increasing the University-funded salaries of his assistant coaches, but it would be foolish-- and totally unnecessary-- to give him yet another contract extension at this time, given that his current contract is through the 2016 season.

I guess I meant you were pro-Bailiff relative to your current stance. You've obviously viewed him a certain way for a very long time.

What was the date of that post? My guess is it was immediately after the Marshall win, but before the hiring of Edmondson.

Yup, that was the day BEFORE the Liberty Bowl on New Years Eve(following the conference championship win), and we were all basking in the glow of Memphis. JK gave DB the extension immediately following the Marshall victory. Edmondson failed miserably in his "audition" for the OC job during the Liberty Bowl, yet was rewarded with the promotion some time late January, I believe.

Everything needs to be put in it's proper perspective!

I didn't say anything about the timing of the post. I just noted it was in this thread. I think the MSU game really damaged Bailiff's reputation with a lot of people.

It put everything in perspective. The "we-are-so-awesome" circle jerk ended abruptly as 6-6 Miss State beat us into a pulp.

To me, that confirmed that Bailiff is capable of performing at a certain level. As C-USA got worse, more teams fell to that level. But in reality, despite the # of wins, we are still a bottom 50% team.
