Sounds like a lateral move from the Big East to me. We are a southern school that only recruits the south. I can't name a single current player on our roster off the top of my head that is from any of those states. Wouldn't be the end of the world, but some Cards fans on here act like we'd be losing great football rivalries with Cuse and Pitt.

There is no reason to act as though Louisville is too good for SU and Pitt and BC, especially when you consider Louisvilles record against SU and Pitt during Louisvilles BE years, Pitt 4-4 and 5-3 against SU during its worst 5 year stretch in its history. Louisville never played in the BE while BC was there, but I think their record against BC would be similar or worse, as BC was regularly winning 9-11 games a season in the Acc during Louisville's years in the BE. And Card fans were beyond excited to play SU and Pitt when The Ville was first invited to the BE.

I see no difference in what Slater was saying than what your president was saying. It's just like the problem Clemson and FSU have with being stuck with Syracuse and BC in the Atlantic.....there simply aren't enough recruits, and especially elite level recruits, north of PA to make it worth our while.

I have no problem with what AccSlater said, since he explained what he meant. I misunderstood his intent. I agree with you that he seems to share the same sort of concerns that Dr Gross mentioned, so no bad feelings here.

Riding coattails on what's been stated I LOVE the idea of splitting the conference down the coast so both divisions are represented from north to south. For example:

Syracuse / Boston College
Louisville / Georgia Tech
Virginia Tech / Virginia
NC State / North Carolina
Wake Forest / Duke
Pittsburgh / Clemson
Miami / Florida State

I originally had GT and Pitt switched but figured GT would pitch a fit. Swapping those two, especially now that I see it, makes a whole hell of a lot of sense to me.

Of course not everyone will be happy. Tell me what I'm missing. Something tells me I'll hear from a number...

I like the divisional alignment here; however, I'm unsure if Clemson fans would want a forced rivalriy with Pitt. Maybe have Pitt cross over w/ GT and UL cross over w/ Clemson would appease them more.... One of the better alignments I've seen thus far.

To me this is an easy fix, swap Syracuse and Virginia Tech:

BC-----SU
UL-----Pitt
VT-----UVA
NCSU--UNC
WF-----Duke
CU-----GT
FSU----Miami

The problem remains that there are season finale match-ups as cross-division opponents. The ACC office has said they would like to avoid that. Plus it upsets the balance of power unless Donovan McNabb 2.0 is walking through that door.

All of this complex reshuffling reveals to us why the current divisions were picked.
