CBS Sports: AAC to withhold Rutgers' payment for Pinstripe Bowl...
From the article:

Rutgers played its last football game as a member of the American Athletic Conference on Saturday, and it appears it did so for free.

The Star-Ledger reports that the AAC has informed Rutgers officials that it plans to withhold the $1.5 million Pinstripe Bowl payout from the school because of the current legal dispute between the conference and the school concerning Rutgers' buyout from the conference.

Neither side is talking publicly about it.

As it was with Louisville, all that stuff, including the law suit will be settled soon.

Maybe they should also do that for UC since they didn't bother to show up to their game. At least UC gets a decent portion of the exit fees. 03-banghead

The author of the article misspoke when he said the AAC would withhold the $1.5m payout from Rutgers, as Rutgers would not have gotten that entire payout, because the AAC pools its bowl money (with some incentives and adjustments).

What he meant to say was that the AAC is going to keep Rutger's share of AAC bowl money, pending the resolution of their exit fee situation.

What the AAC should do to make it at least somewhat hilarious:

I would have made sense for them to withhold conference payments to Rutgers from the first time they announced they were leaving to make sure they get all the exit fee. Like the ACC did with MD. Seems a little late to start withholding payments now.

Agreed, but in actuality, they've been withholding payments since November 2012. (Technically, they withheld our share of the exit fees due to us from Boise, TCU, Cuse, Pitt, WVU, ND as we were members in good standing which is illegal.) This is just the latest money we're due they're withholding.

None of that money has been distributed to anyone that I am aware of.
