+1 This pissing contest doesn't solve anything. IMHO, both conferences pretty much suck, except at the top, and nobody really deserves any bragging rights.

Seems to me that the fight is over which is the prettiest girl at the butt ugly ball. And C-USA would argue that they are.

I don't think NIU would have beaten Fresno. They beat a good Iowa team and the MAC's top teams. But when a good team got a chance to prepare, NIU was soundly beaten. The BGSU and USU games were not even as close as the score was.

I will agree the BGSU game was a blow out, but USU was very close. NIU had two missed kicks and one failed fourth down conversion in scoring position.

Utah State also missed a field goal and threw a pick in your red zone that led to one of those missed field goals. Both teams made mistakes. From reading this board last night into today the general consensus is that Northern Illinois played the worst game of the season to lose to a terrible Utah State team from a crappy Mountain West conference. I saw a very different game then this. USU has had a very strong, top 10 defense this year. In our last 4 games we held our opponents to far lower scores then they were used to. We played Colorado State coming off games where they scored 52, 35, 30, 38, and 66...we shut them out. Wyoming scored 59 points the week before we played them and we held them to 7. Fresno State's previous season low was 35 and we held them to 24. I wouldn't say that your offense played a bad game as much as they finally ran into a Defense that could give them all that they could handle. That shouldn't tarnish the amazing season you guys had. 12 wins is incredible and nothing to be disappointed about.

I wasn't saying that the Huskies would have won if they made those kicks, I'm only stating that the game's 21-14 score tells exactly how the game went.

For those saying Fresno beat USU who beat NIU, so Fresno > NIU...UT beat bgSUCKS who beat NIU. So, therefore, UT should have beat NIU, right? Nope, didn't happen.

Let's try this again: UT beat bgSUCKS, who beat Akron. So UT should beat Akron, right? Nope, didn't happen.

Fresno fans are just making themselves look like idiots.

And if THATS the case, Bama beat LSU, who beat Auburn. So Bama should beat Auburn!

Oh wait.......

While it wouldn't shock me at all if NIU beat Fresno -- we're talking chances. Expectations. 5 game series based on how things have unfolded, etc. to gauge how things would unfold...

I would say Fresno would have the upper hand. Mainly because NIU's Offense has not been great the last 3 games. Against Utah State, who has a decent/good O, struggled to get points themselves, so NIU's D -- their weakness, showed up great.

But honestly, NIU's O -- teams figured out how to contain Lynch and to make him "work for it", and they were off key the last few games. Not to say Fresno is some powerhouse. At all. USC did the same thing, but that's also USC.

In the end, NIU's O is what I'm most disappointed about. Last 2 years they relied on wearing out a D, try enough times & break free on a QB or RB run... teams wise up to that. As long as the other team is decent, they'll stop 'em, and that's what happened.

IMO, assuming Ball State beats Ark State they way they 'should', which Should happen (knock on wood; but with confidence) -- Ball State is the #1 team at the end of the season. For overall recognition? NIU. If BSU was playing a BCS team in Jan, then I could say they would rival that, but no, NIU gets that crown.

In a sense, it's like in college basketball -- winning the conference title VS conference tournament title. Ball State, if all goes how it should to keep some respect for the MAC, gets in some sense a "conference tournament champ" recognition, while NIU, falling, gets the "regular season champ" of our conference. All in reference of "Who's the best".

Wow. Just wow. Very few people are man enough to publically admit to a meaningful relationship with their own poo. I respect that; it takes courage to out yourself like that.

Still, I hope there is a 12-step program out there for you.

Nope, we didn't. It's unfortunate that, while we had a good season, we had to rely on the schools we defeated to salvage the post-season reputation of the conference. And even then, it was marginal at best as the rest of the conference was only 1-1 against the "big boy conferences".

That said, you guys are in sort of the same boat -- except your conference mates didn't come through for you in the post season at all.

I worry about all the non-AQs going forward as I fear it will become increasingly difficult to recruit against the playoffs and eventually the pay for play of the big conferences.

Sure, we'd all like to be a part of the power structure. But that doesn't change the fact that, until we are, they are the enemy. I will keep it classy and wish Fresno luck in the future. Too bad there are some Fresno fans apparently who are lacking it.

Something in the air or the water in California, I'm thinking, makes people do and say inappropriate, nay stupid, things.

Just picture the idiots sitting on their possessions tied down in the beds of their '28 Studebaker pickups, heading West from Tulsa with the rest of the Joads in tow. Heading for the paradise [snort snicker] that is the Imperial Valley.
