Quote:And if THATS the case, Bama beat LSU, who beat Auburn. So Bama should beat Auburn!
Oh wait.......
While it wouldn't shock me at all if NIU beat Fresno -- we're talking chances. Expectations. 5 game series based on how things have unfolded, etc. to gauge how things would unfold...
I would say Fresno would have the upper hand. Mainly because NIU's Offense has not been great the last 3 games. Against Utah State, who has a decent/good O, struggled to get points themselves, so NIU's D -- their weakness, showed up great.
But honestly, NIU's O -- teams figured out how to contain Lynch and to make him "work for it", and they were off key the last few games. Not to say Fresno is some powerhouse. At all. USC did the same thing, but that's also USC.
In the end, NIU's O is what I'm most disappointed about. Last 2 years they relied on wearing out a D, try enough times & break free on a QB or RB run... teams wise up to that. As long as the other team is decent, they'll stop 'em, and that's what happened.
IMO, assuming Ball State beats Ark State they way they 'should', which Should happen (knock on wood; but with confidence) -- Ball State is the #1 team at the end of the season. For overall recognition? NIU. If BSU was playing a BCS team in Jan, then I could say they would rival that, but no, NIU gets that crown.
In a sense, it's like in college basketball -- winning the conference title VS conference tournament title. Ball State, if all goes how it should to keep some respect for the MAC, gets in some sense a "conference tournament champ" recognition, while NIU, falling, gets the "regular season champ" of our conference. All in reference of "Who's the best".
