2014 will answer a lot of questions
I think a question a lot of us have right now in terms of the future is how sustainable is this program? As awful as the last two games were, 11, 11, 12, 12 as win totals the last four season is incredible. There were also three head coaches in those four seasons, and if that had a negative impact in an area like, say, recruiting, we will see it soon.

I think we all expect a drop next season, but the question is how far? Can we still be a Detroit quality team, or will the 2006-2008 days of .500 football & hoping to sneak into a non MAC bowl return? I honestly have no idea what to expect. Finding another Chandler or Jordan would sure help.

RE: 2014 will answer a lot of questions
Next year could be tough, much will depend on the QB play and how good the rebuilt defense is.

RE: 2014 will answer a lot of questions
If they are .500 Frazier could pull the trigger? He wants his own coach in there. He thinks we should be the next Boise or TCU and he didn't hire Carey. He played at Bama where things are handled a lot differently. I know NIU doesn't have the same resources but Frazier seems pretty passionate about keeping the momentum.

RE: 2014 will answer a lot of questions
We have won a lot of games the last two years. The problem is its been against really bad teams mostly. I feel NIU and Lynch, Carey have been exposed. We were 1 game away from back to back BCS games. Who is the best team we have beat over that time frame? Kent St, IOWA or Ball St. It doesn't matter! For as much as we all ***** about how we are picked on and things are stacked against us, we have had it pretty easy. We are back to being just another MAC team that know one respects. Epic, Epic fail!

If we play like we have the last two games the sky will fall. If we play like we did against balls state and Toledo we'll be just fine. It seems like there was a HUGE letdown after those games.

I am looking forward to a big win over Presbyterian. It will not be easy - and I think it will be a close one - but I think we will pull it out in the end.

As long as we play MAC teams and mediocre to bad OOC teams, we should be okay next year.

RE: 2014 will answer a lot of questions
While we should be good every year, I think its unreasonable to think we should be in the MACC every year. Fact is even the best programs have some ups and downs (ok, the best programs have few downs....but we are not Alabama).

I look forward to seeing what are next young QBs can do....even if it doesn't mean a BCS bowl.

RE: 2014 will answer a lot of questions
The MAC West is essentially anybody's game next year (except EMU).

NIU, BSU, and Toledo will each be starting new QBs and if the past is any indication whoever has the best QB in the division usually goes to the MACC.

As we've seen every year for almost the past decade, you're only as good as your QB. NIU didn't become as good as they did the past 4 years until Harnish took the giant step forward in production between his sophomore and junior seasons.

RE: 2014 will answer a lot of questions
Maybe it's best we lose several of out veterans to graduation, etc. A new crew of starters could be just what the defense needs. And even though we will miss Lynch terribly, we will have plenty of talent on offense, so why not spread it around? At the end, we relied too much on Lynch, and when we didn't come through, neither did the team.

Give the ball more often to Stingley (no more sweeps, please) and Akeem consistently, and use Tommylee the way we have. Our wideouts can play, so keep getting them the ball. And we have talented tight ends. Keep throwing to them. It worked for awhile last night.

Quarterback? Who can say? Seems we have some talent there. It will be an interesting spring.

I know most of us are pissed, and have reason to be, but let's try not to think about the BG and USU games every day of the next nine months. These players have plenty of ability, as does the coaching staff. All need to learn from the mistakes made in the final two games and continue to contend for the MAC title.

Well, we know we have 2 of them (TL and Da'ron), maybe 3 if Brescacin is included. The other WRs didn't do a whole lot to warrant praise this season. Sebastiano was either hurt or suspended for half the season and Beebe had the one nice catch and run against UMASS, but other than that, not much. WR depth will be something to watch next year.

What does the 2014 schedule look like for Ws?

RE: 2014 will answer a lot of questions
Big losses

Lynch
Ward

and VOLK/Krempel

Defensive Line (Everyone)

The best part of our defense was actually the D-Line and the upper class secondary

our secondary lower class let a lot of open plays and missed tackles this season and the LB core was not that impressive.

We are missing a lot and nobody will admit it! It will be a tough year but I think we still make a bowl

7-5 or 8-4 (Just cause the MAC is that bad)

I'm excited for next year, whatever our projected record. I always enjoy having a new young qb. I have high hopes. I think we can compete for MAC west and maybe even MACC.

I am excited for next year. Lynch was a stud that can't be easily replaced but it was a repeat of G Wolfe in 2006. We were one dimensional.

A solid Returning O-line with backs Stingily, Spencer, Harris Jr, A Daniels, along with A Turner and Jordan Huff will take a lot of pressure off of a green QB.

10-2...and another MAC West title. McIntosh (if he is the starter) is one helluva QB. I'm not just talking about from the little PT that he's gotten. I'm talking about even before NIU. The kid has intangibles that you just can't teach. The game @ NW is gonna be a good one. The offense is gonna continue scoring IF the coaches let it. *smh*

Offense will be fine...top 5 in MAC. What NIU needs to do(as we all know) is improve on the defensive side of the ball, I dont think the offense will be good enough to allow for defensive lapses like we saw this past season. Obviously, Ward will be a huge loss. I think there are some athletes on the defensive side of the ball..can they be developed and molded into a top MAC D?

To keep our momentum going for next season, I think we have to beat Northwestern. (IMO I think we will) For the media attention as well as another year with a W against the BIG. Good selling point for recruits that we are going for that have offers from the lower level big ten schools.

Our schedule sets up nicely again if we can go undefeated in OOC again. Arkansas and northwestern should be the hardest ones.
A win over a B1G, SEC, an MWC team would be a great start to the season. Get us in the national rankings and spotlight again.
