Our champion lost to a mediocre ACC team, our near-BCS buster lost to a good MWC team, and our other two supposedly good teams were run out of the stadium by middle of the pack G5 schools. What gives? I guess you could partially attribute BG's struggles to losing Clawson, but we still had some pretty decent teams get smoked. Were they beating up on Miami, UMass, WMU, and EMU all along and making us think they were better than they are?

Fortunately I still think Ball State is going to beat stAte, especially with Lembo still around. However, from now until early January the bowl standings will say 'MAC: 0-4' for everyone to see. A win over the Sun Belt champ won't repair the damage done, this is a black eye on our conference going into the CFP era. Of course this isn't the end of the world, I still take pride in our conference and all we've done this year (Lynch's Heisman finish and Mack's accomplishments, among others), but obviously frustrating to see.

As for NIU, you can blame our lack of coaching talent that caught up to us after losing Kill and Doeren and promoting a guy without any head coaching experience. They rode on the strings of J Lynch most of the season which covered up most of the soft spots. Defense was horrible in the MACC, and the Offense was Horrible in the bowl game.

What damage? People will forget by February. This is a molehill.

This is true...

Going 0-5 would sting so I have to bring myself to root for the cards but a bad bowl season does not mean the conference is heading the wrong way.

Was rooting for BG and NIU. The lesser conferences need to stick together and hope we pull off some upsets. Unfortunately, I look for us to lay another road egg against the Terps.

We keep on truckin. In reality, bowl season doesn't mean much since bowls only care about $$$ and not the on-field matchup.

Seriously, wouldn't the MAC schools be better off if they dropped down to FCS. By the way, if they did that, they would still lose. The MAC sucks.
