How is this a terrible Oklahoma team? They have one more loss than Alabama.

I would be thinking more redemption for the last two times you played us.

We are Oklahoma. Not a virtual mid major like Utah.

I don't think it's that great of a matchup.

A deflated Alabama team versus an average looking Big12 team.

How is Alabama deflated? They realized they weren't the best team this season. They realized that you can't win them all?

That doesn't mean they are not a top team. Oklahoma hasn't been in the number 1 spot, but we are still Oklahoma. I do think the SEC is a better conference overall, but this notion that many SEC fans have thinking their conference is basically the NFC east, or that the best Big XII team would only go 7-4 in the SEC is actually pretty damn ridiculous.

Bama is my second favorite team, but I am disappointed in how big some the fans heads have gotten.

Oh, I'm not talking about it from a fan perspective. I'm thinking a team that spent all year talking about an historic three NCs in a row will struggle to find their usual level of enthusiasm for the Sugar Bowl.

As a fan, I'm happy with whomever they play that will be an entertaining game. I didn't buy Sugar Bowl tickets though because New Orleans is really a shithole.

Also, it really isn't a matchup with the feel of two big names going at one another, to me at least.

My guess is Alabama will come out highly motivated, seeking to make amends for the Auburn loss. OU, this season, has not been the OU of old.

IMO opinion, these are the two most prestigious programs in all of college football. It should be a treat whenever they play each other and just borderline asinine that they don't play in the same conference.

I agree that the OU offense has had identity issues, but despite that this OU team made it to a BCS bowl. What happens with 3.5 weeks to scheme and practice for an Alabama team? What happens if OU finds it's identity in that same practice time?

I truly believe Bama is in for a surprise. A rude one, and I hope it crushes the spirit of those spoiled Bammer fans. I live in Florida and the SEC attitude permeates everything. Gator fans are bad, but Bammer fans are ridiculous. The only thing nice about a room full of Bammer fans is that between all of them is a full set of teeth.

BOOMER!

I've gotta agree with this take, at least as far as Alabama coming out sky-high. I think that if the game were played just a week after the Auburn loss, there might have been a hangover of disappointment and a greater sense of loss for what might have been. But Saban has had weeks to get all over these guys and if there's any word that describes him it's relentless. I'm not saying that OU is doomed, but I think that Stoops better revive "Big Game Bob" for this one because I think the Tide will be ready to roll.

The current Bama misery is all about losing to Auburn and having to watch them back in the BCS Championship. Nothing else matters in this state other than being on top and more importantly gloating in the other sides misery.

Well I don't have a dog in this fight and couldn't care less about AL and AU, but your point is interesting. Has OK St success been enough to cause OK misery?

I used the term kinda ambiguously. Second best meaning, not the best team in the country or, in terms of being good but not spectacular.

This will not be a great game. If Alabama comes in to this game with their heads on straight, they will completely demolish Oklahoma. To be completely honest, these are probably the worst set of BCS Bowl games in the BCS era out of the year Pitt played Utah in BCS bowl game.

Baylor is going to go all "Thor" like on UCF. Just a horrible set of BCS Bowl games.

Oh yeah, Baylor really took it to them.

Glad I was wrong about UCF. Didn't Baylor beat the chit outta OU? And you really expect OU to hang with Alabama? Seriously???

I'm not sure the Alabama players were excited by it either.

If I had bet on the game (I didn't) I would've bet on Alabama to win but OU to cover the 16 or 17 points or whatever it was. Saban usually has his team up for a game -- I think that is one of his great strengths as a HC -- but first with Utah and now with OU his teams have suffered letdowns when they missed out on the BCS title game and had to "settle" for something less (i.e., Sugar Bowl), vs. a team that was psyched up and happy to be there.

Bear Bryant had some bowl-game struggles, too. Alabama went 0-7-1 in bowls from the 1967 season to the 1974 season. The tie was against Oklahoma in the Bluebonnet Bowl, one of the very few times that bowl did not have a Texas-based team participating. In fairness to Bear, his 'Bama teams went to bowls 24 years in a row when there were far fewer bowl games played, and they were 12-10-2 in those 24 games. So he (obviously) had a lot of post-season success, too.

There likely is some truth to the statement, much like UF last year. Alabama expected a National title game, and lost its chance late. Sugar was a letdown game for them. For Olk it was their big game, after losing to Baylor weeks before.

I love the way you doubled down on the hubris, even after your basic premise was proven false.

Emphasis added.

I think it's more than just that. That Auburn game was beyond epic and people in the State of Alabama will be talking about it for the next 50 years. It is easily understandable if 'Bama didn't have its head in the game against OU.
