There are no excuses. Alabama got beat. Period. The notion that Alabama players weren't into the game was obliterated when they were jumping around on the sideline after their 3 quarter start. One of the Bama coaches had to corral them back behind the line. The fans were so loud that Knight was having trouble calling the plays.

I agree.

But that does not contradict the possibility that 'Bama was not mentally prepared for the game. Getting psyched up for a game is part of the deal, and to say that 'Bama failed to do that doesn't show any disrespect to OU's victory.

I disagree. I don't think a mental state would have mattered. Alabama's offense is not designed to play that type of defense. They just aren't.

What I don't think they were prepared for was our offense.

I 100% agree and I 100% disagree. I agree 100% because Big Game Stoops knew he had to play this kind of offensive passing game and also to start and play his hot shot run/pass QB who has performed exquisitely in practice but faltered early in the season.

I disagree 100% because I don't think anyone, including Stoops, knew OU QB Knight would perform so superbly for just a freshman and the pressure cooker of #3 Alabama, the boisterous Sugar Bowl Crowd, and a national audience.

For OU and state of Oklahoma fans, this was a special game to be remembered for the ages. Sports Illustrated has a marvelous story on the OU QB titled "A Star is Born."

Knight was our starter for a reason. Bell was our backup who appeared after Knight was injured in our second game.

It's not possible that they didn't know he was a stud or that they didn't see that in the month leading up to the Sugar bowl. This was a healthy Knight.

Yes it was a very awesome game, but more so because of the way the media downplayed their ability to match up to Alabama. It was so sweet watching Mark May have to sit there and eat his pre game words.

My take away from the BCS bowls so far is that ESPN's talking heads have absolutely no clue, and speak from a cue-card in furtherance of ESPN's agenda. They are the worst "sportscasters" I've ever seen.

RE: Alabama fans not excited about playing Oklahoma in Sugar Bowl
Louisville went through this nonsense last year with Florida. I just don't get it. How can the team not be interested?

First, as a grown ass mature man, I'd much rather get beat straight up and just admit it than to come off with some sorry excuse implying that I was too lazy, too immature and too weak minded to prepare for my last game of the season against one of the most storied opponents in the history of college football in one of the biggest bowl games in the history of college football.

Second, regardless of the opponent and once you are actually in the game getting your ass kicked on national TV, how can you not be motivated by instinctive pride to fight back to the absolute best of your ability? I mean even if I'm Anderson Silva and some lame ass wannabe walks up and slaps me in the face, I am going to be fully motivated to kick his ass no matter how much better than him I think I am.

Third, if you're a senior and this is your LAST game, how can you not give it 100%?? As a leader of your team, how can you let the juniors and underclassmen give anything less than 100%??

Only schools in the SEC, with its debilitating sickness of SEC-Syndrome, could come up with this nonsense. They simply cannot abide the notion that some other team might actually be able to beat them. They would rather concede to being lazy, immature, childish punks with absolutely no shame whatsoever who think they are too good for the Sugar Bowl than admit they got beat fair and square.
