RE: Total Revenues by Team (2013)
These are last years numbers, the year isn't over yet and ECU's budget (ie total revenue) is 42,000,000 this year with expenses expected to be at 40,000,000. We aren't allowed by state law to use tax money for athletics or money from the endowment.

That's last years, (fiscal year and academic year), yes it's still 2013, but we are now on the 2013-14 fiscal and academic years, for that the projection is a 42 million budget with 40 million in expenses. Those numbers and fiscal year 7-1-12 to to 6-30-13 covers the 2012 FB season, 2012-13 bb seasons and so on.04-cheers

This football season's revenue number will be reported on the 7-1-13 to 6-30-14 fiscal year.

I wonder what our (ECU) plans are. I know we are aiming to increase ticket sales and fund all scholarships, but some competition might help our fan base as well. In general terms, we could aim to be in the top 50, but we could also bring it more home by aiming to have the largest budget in the AAC or be hire than a Wake Forest (a much higher amount, but obtainable while competing with a NC team). Any other ECU fans have any thoughts?

I wonder what our (ECU) plans are. I know we are aiming to increase ticket sales and fund all scholarships, but some competition might help our fan base as well. In general terms, we could aim to be in the top 50, but we could also bring it more home by aiming to have the largest budget in the AAC or be hire than a Wake Forest (a much higher amount, but obtainable while competing with a NC team). Any other ECU fans have any thoughts?

I would hope we just keep on growing and winning. The rest will take care of itself. I expect our revenues will soar next season...but..our expenses will increase also due to travel. Remember...no divisions yet in the AAC...so we may see those costs increase.

Added revenues from TV and increased ticket sales should put us well above 2013 numbers. I would not be surprised to see 45 to 50m in revenues.

ODU raised $35,217,421 and spent $34,375,037 in fiscal year 2012, which ended last June, according to USA Today. That would be 66th just behind ECU, they raise more we spend more.

I hope we see that kind of growth but I do not see it happening in one year b/c the tv contract will not be that big of an increase. However, that range would put us near or above WFU. The best things ECU needs to happen to make real money is a better tv contract in $10 distribution per team range and corporate sponsorship.

The endowment part is federal law, unless it is earmarked by the donor. Usually endowments can never be touched, only the interest they provide.

Athletic department revenues and expenses are a bunch of hogwash.

RE: Total Revenues by Team (2013)
I don't trust most book-keepers or accountants.

Can't they all sorta' fuzzy math their way to make revenues be either high or low? You know, much like the federal goverment? And FWIW....aren't most public universities merely ivy towered egg-head clones of the U.S. goverment? They seem to run them the same way with a non sense of urgency attitude as to improve on things that need improving the most while needlessly wasting too much payroll monies on slackers who cannot produce and have years of non production for proof?

GMG!

Revenues will increase by 5 million a year in 5 years with planned increase to student fees, that have been approved by the students increased total revenue from students fee from 13 million to 19 million, also Jeff C. has set a goal to raise revenues from all other sources by 10 million in the same 5 years. A total increase of 15 million a year in revenues, that would be 50 million drawing off the 2012-13 numbers and would lower the % of the total budget that comes from students from 40% to 35%.

The best things ECU needs to happen to make real money is a better tv contract in $10 distribution per team range and corporate sponsorship.

I did not know that, but it is great news!! Thank you for sharing that. I had not seen that on HTC or BYB so that is great news after the bowl win.

I do not know all the things going on in the Athletic Department, but I would hope the extra revenue that is available would go in this order; Scholarships, Coaches Salaries, Renovations for Minges inside, and a Football Indoor Practice Facility.

Have you heard what the extra $15 will go towards?

RE: Total Revenues by Team (2013)
scholarships are seperate matter, that's the PC, any short fall is covered by the budget. But, they do want to raise PC revenue by 2 million to fully cover scholarships.

The disparity from the top 5 leagues to the others will continue to grow. It's like a Ford Fiesta trying to catch a Lamborghini.
