It might be hard for you understand, Jonesey, but some freshman who at very good do not play as much on experienced teams.

For UTEP

Vince Hunter 10.8 pts, 6.5 rebs, 12 blocks, 7 stls, in 21 minutes, 64% FG. He has only started 6 games and has two double doubles and has been our leading scorer 3 times and our leading rebounder 4 times.

RE: Basketball Freshman of the Year
White and Lester have been especially impressive all around.

Stith has been up and down on offense so far (but looks very promising) but he has been consistent rebounding the ball and playing defense.

All three appear to be headed towards very successful collegiate careers.

I know this might be hard for you to understand but I'm just interested in who is doing what around here and who are the best freshman with out having to research it all that much. FTR I'm well aware the worse teams usually have some of the more impactful freshman, or playing bigger roles. We pretty much used to always keep a all conference freshman on the team every year when we sucked.

Not so sure. If your team only won like 10 or 12 games, and UNCC won the regular season for example, I think you'd give it to Lester.

This might be the first time I have ever said this but I agree with you.

I think winning should be a big part in postseason awards.

It's Sean Obi, not Orbi. He's been very good and will legitimately be a good big guy in this conference for years to come. But we'll need to win quite a few conference games for him to be considered for freshman of the year, and I just don't know if that will happen.

I wonder if C-USA will consider him for freshman of the year (since he has 4 years of eligibility remaining if he is on pace for graduation on time) when Charlotte lists him as a sophomore. Marshall adjusted the way they did this a few years ago because C-USA would not consider our prop players for freshman awards when we listed them as sophomores.

Definitely way too early, but Vince Hunter was leading the conference in FG% before tonight's action.

Past three games was also averaging 15 points 8 rebounds and played no more than 25 minutes in those games.

So was Canty a prop like Lester. I'm not knocking them either. We have a guy sitting out currently as an apparent prop.

Technically, but his issue involved transcripts, or the lack there of from one of his prep schools that had shutdown, rather than grades.

Newcomer of the year will be our PG Chad Frazier, but UAB doesn't give our freshman too many minutes just yet.
