The UAB Play of the Year and Player of the Year
Since we have time to kill before the next sporting event, let's do some year end awards. Pick your play, game and player of the year. Also Coach of the Year for the Calendar year 2013

My picks:
1. Play of the Year - tough call. In the major sports, nothing stands out in my memory, so I am going to go with men's soccer knocking off defending champion Indiana with a goal with 17 seconds to go in overtime.

2. Player of the Year - even though he only played in the last two months, I pick Chad Frazier for the national spotlight he gave the Blazers and the hope he has given the fans

3. Mike Getman - even though the season fizzled, he had the best season in the athletic department.
-runner up Jarod Haase for recruiting and the good start

All 3 would be softball related.

Marla - coach, Whitney I believe, hitting the triple to beat UCLA I think.

Player of year might be Campbell or Streetman for softball.

Play of the year - Triple by Whitney Fletcher to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the 13th inning to beat UCLA.

Player of the year - Leigh Streetman. She gave UAB a chance to win the final game against UCLA in the Louisville Regional by pitching 7.2 innings of relief. She struck out seven and gave up zero earned runs. With the bases loaded and one out in the top of the 13th inning, Streetman struck out the next two batters.

Streetman's jersey number is 13.

Coach of the year - Marla Townsend
