WKU basketball fans...
How do you guys feel about recruit Justin Johnson? My brother married into his family so I've watched him play a few times over the last few years. I was hoping Marshall would go after him, but not sure if we even tried. He's a good one. Just was wondering how you guys felt.

This is part of the ESPN scouting report. "Johnson is a hardnosed and competitive power forward. He plays with great effort and urgency on both ends of the floor. Johnson rebounds on both ends with great desire and has a nose for the ball. Anything that hits his hands in his area he squeezes and maintains possession."

That sounds about right from what I saw. One of the games he literally had 7-8 dunks. He goes to the rim hard.

I am excited about him. He is a missing piece for this team, someone that can go hard to the hole and has hops.

He is averaging 20-20. 20 points and 20 rebounds a game. Kid knows the game for sure and WKU will be very lucky to have got him. WKU has been recruiting him for years and he has signed his LOI

To echo others, we are very excited about JJ.

He is a GREAT fit for Harpers system. I think he will kill it here.

Maybe we can even get you to trade out some Kelly Green for a red shirt or two 03-wink. I'm really high on JJ. Our inside game is not exatly progressing like I hoped it would. Coach hasn't played Daouda at all, Alex and Fant are playing like women, Ben is not yet ready to go, JJ might be a significant player next season.

WKU has strong guard play and our only missing piece is a quality big. JJ is a perfect fit. He plays much bigger than 6'7" (rebounding over 20 a game) and he can even knock down the 15 footer.

The guy is a mini Kevin Love and in my opinion will be a 1st team all-CUSA player in time.

Like most Topper fans I'm really excited for him to suit up. If he was 2-3 inches taller he'd be at UK.[/align]

Can't say I will trade in the Kelly, but I will definitely have 1-2 red WKU shirts in the closet :)

Nice get for the Toppers. Often the best players in the eastern part of the state end up @ uk but with Calipari using one and done's that trend seems to have stopped somewhat. We did lose Hawkins last season but glad to have Justin. Actually could use the help on the inside right now.

sorry i'm late to the party. i got a chance to see him play this summer with our guys during pickup ball.

though a rising h.s. senior he didn't appear out of place at all. he has a college ready body and enough swag he was taking it at college juniors and more than held his own.

when i first saw him i thought he was a little chunky with h.s. baby fat but he's just one of those kids that has probably been thick his whole life. thick enough to bang inside. but i saw him drain a couple set 3's as well and he showed a good stroke that should translate into being able to hit his free throws.

best thing about him was his motor. i've coached a lot of hoops and baseball. a kid either has the motor or not. he does.

after watching him for 5 minutes i turned to my buddy and said i'd offer him right now.

we were fortunate to get him in the early period as we probably wouldn't get him late. he was already getting attention from boston college who offered. hard to turn down playing duke and carolina twice a year and more bcs level offers would have come after the year he's already having.

we also could've lost him last minute to uk if calipari threw a crumb his way last minute like he did with hawkins after we'd recruited him for a couple years.

we've been on jj since his sophomore year and really needed to not whiff again on a top target. we picked up 2 more biggies right after his. he'll have 2 seniors in front of him so he won't have a ton of pressure his freshman year.
