Just found out breaking ground probably won't be until NEXT Aug/Sept. Open by 2016.

Not having seen the fence that is described by Tedhead, the orange fence would seem to be one of two things; either a five-foot-high snow fence erected to keep the general public out of the construction area or a shorter erosion control fence required to prevent disturbed soil from eroding out of the construction site. Either way, I am having difficulty correlating the simultaneous construction of the orange fence with a meeting to discuss floor plan concepts. It would seem to me that if the contractor is poised to begin moving dirt, then any floor plan concept meetings should have been completed months ago. Can anyone provide some clarification here?

Edit: Thanks Cr8n. It would appear you answered the question while I was developing my question, though I don't know why they have to cordon off the construction site this early.

Sorry, yeah. I looked at the programming schedule and saw Month/Days but no years and jumped the gun. They just began design phase so not sure why they would need orange fence up this early?

The orange fence is put up in that area for special events in the summer like Music on Monarch Way.

Still on track to break ground later this year?

I heard June or Early July. Everything is still on track. They made a few changes to the original plan because the overall space is so limited.

Maybe add another floor? Lord knows ODU hates to make buildings as tall as they need to.

So I was told at the LA Tech game that the space is so limited that the new facility will not have locker rooms and they will use the ones at the Ted. I really hope the person who told me this was full of fruit loops but usually they are spot on. Since you know about changes can you reassure me this locker stuff is not true?

The older design had more curved features and that took out space. I believe they have corrected all those issues and a few others. I do know that several items from a functionality perspective were addressed.

So absurd it's probably true.

This release mentions "NBA style locker rooms": http://www.odusports.com/ViewArticle.dbm...=209345543

I can't believe they'd trumpet that and then do away with them completely.

Definitely weird to brag about the PF locker room and then axe it. If true. But since it's going to be connected to the TED, is there even a need for two sets of home locker rooms?

I thought I read somewhere that it is now not going to be connected to the Ted.

What I last heard it will be right next to, but not attached. Building codes limited that for now. There will be a very short covered breezeway between the two buildings and will have locker rooms with adjoining player lounge

I'm sure all of you have stood on that ground before and seen how small it is. That rendition of the BB PF can't be the proper scale.

If you want to wow recruits, you're going to have to include a luxury locker room. This should be a non-negotiable. The area in question is too small to include all the amenities of a first class college basketball practice facility.

Why would you use an NBA locker room as an example of a first class COLLEGE facility? There are plenty of examples from actual college programs.
