The Bright Side to Punting - Hope
Here is a really nice story about punter Austin Barnes. He donated one coat to the Hope Clinic in Ypsilanti for every punt he had this season, all fifty of them.

I'm familiar with Hope Clinic. It is a an interdenominational Christian organization. They have a medical clinic, a dental clinic, they provide meals, and do things like making sure poor kids have a warm coat for the winter. That's where Austin Barnes comes in.
Even those 20 yard punts into a 30mph wind against BGSU were worth something.

The great thing about this is that Austin has always helped others-glad to see young men like this in our sports programs.

and our inept offense... (I'm not going there, but Austin kept busy during the season too - punting).

Your comment is misleading. Barnes did not punt the BGSU game. Also, we should find out why he was suspended for the last 3 games before we put him on a pedestal!

No, my comment was not misleading. The word misleading implies a purposeful intent to deceive. I was mistaken. I thought Barnes kicked in the BG game.
And I certainly did not put him on a pedestal. The term putting someone on a pedestal is used to describe adoration or excessive admiration. I merely said that he did something "really nice." If you think getting 50 winter coats for poor kids is not nice, why?
If you have some axe to grind with Austin Barnes I don't care about it. Conduct your own investigation into his suspension and then tell everyone about his failures. Maybe it will make you feed good.

Interesting how a thread about a great young man doing something wonderful for a community he really doesn't belong to can become contentious.
LJMHurons, no worries. We all make mistakes.
This crap, turning a positive thread into another opportunity to bash a fellow forum member, is one reason why I spend very little time here anymore and a big reason why I am pretty close to kicking the whole damn forum to the curb.

Yes, that's the way it is. It's hardly just here. It is a product of the Internet.
I don't mind if people correct my mistakes. I don't want to be wrong about simple facts. Anyone is free to correct me about facts. And they're are welcome to challenge me on opinions.

Same here. There's just too much negativity on this forum. I try to bring a positive twist to events every once in a while, but my opinions are almost always chalenged with negativity. But I'll keep trying. I don't want visitors to this forum to be subject to constant downers about the school I love and owe much to.

Yeah guys, we need to disagree with each others but not attack each other which is what I think some people do here sometime.. I hope no one leave because a person post something something they don't like.. Let that person move on to another topic or just don't respond back to them...
