Could it be that CJH has written those guys off to work towards what he's wanting us to be? You know, without cutting much loved, star players off the team. Is he implementing a plan that doesn't play to their strengths while looking at the big picture and not just this season?

It's just a theory...

Broom was the definition of a role player though. Swing was a go to guy, and now he's kind of an afterthought. I get why Swing is struggling, and I think it's a big reason our team is performing so poorly right now.

That's why I don't think he's checked out. He's still hustling and doing things for the team.

The opposing team thinks that Swing can shoot & they guard him more than they would some of the others.

This gives Frazier less pressure so that he can score more with the more open area.

I agree with you on that one. You can tell it is affecting his shot. It seems like he gets all tight and coils up before he shoots, making him not follow through. If he could just get one to fall in, he would loosen up and start hitting again

I wonder if that really hard fall on his back when a guy undercut him trying for the alleyoop shot a few weeks ago has affected his shooting since??

I think this is a real possibility.

Sad thing is that if Purifoy had averaged around 10 points a game this year, he would have broken 1000 too.

It can't have helped.

I think it's a culmination of adjusting to a new role, hitting a shooting slump, not shooting enough to break through the slump, losing confidence, and playing tight because he gets pulled after one mistake.

*note first season at Western Kentucky rolled up into one data point (22 games played and 50 total points scored)

I don't count points scored at another school. Neither does UAB

He currently has 928.

Adding WKU's points might still not get him past 1000.

So 72 to 1000. Still possible but with the way he's been playing...

This slump is worse than brooms. Broom came on at the end of the season

RE: The 2013-2014 Jordan Swing Countdown to 1000 pts thread
Broom was never the scorer that Swing was, so the drop off is bigger. Looking back, Broom's slump was year long. He scored no more than 5 points all year until the USM game at home. Broom had a career high 19 on 7 of 9 shooting and 5 threes. He followed that game with a 13 point game and the only other double digit game he had was a 12 point game against ECU.

The difference I see is that Broom continued to shoot, taking 3 to 5 shots a game. Swing isn't shooting that much any more.

The coach needs to draw up a layup for Swing to get the guy going
