Sarkisian left Washington - possibly before NCAA recruiting violations
http://touch.latimes.com/#section/-1/art...-78607423/

Sarkisian's recruitng coordinator and Dline coach at Washington Tosh Lupoi is being accused of funnelling cash payments to a third party to pay for a recent recruit's prep classes and online schooling. The LA Times has bank records of cash deposits and payments through the third party and he's squealing all about Tosh Lupoi as the source of the cash.

Tosh, of course, denies everything. Looks like another program that will get a slap on the wrist and another assistant who will take the fall for it.

Tosh's reputation as the dirtiest recruiter on he left coast preceded his time with Sark. Sark of course had the rep as the dirtiest HC, so it was a match made in heaven.

No way that Haden lets Sark hire Lupoi now.

...a story out from the city with the school who just plundered a conferencemate's football coach about that plundered program's recruiting practices?

Brutal, LA. Brutal.

Although, I never understood why Washington would have to resort to this. UW is such a good school and Seattle is a great town. I'd expect this stuff in Pullman or Corvallis...

Well it probably will be one of those programs that gets punished for it. Even more likely it will be Idaho.

No, Wazzu and OSU don't bring in 5-star recruits. Leach and Riley are the kind of coaches who take overlooked players and coach them up. So they don't "need" assistant coaches who are recruiting magicians, and they're much less likely to have issues like this.

I bet they learned the hard way. Even if they did a better job recruiting than the big guys, they'll just cry to mama and say there was cheating.

His focus should have been a bit higher up on Pete. His mouth was talking, not his feet. 05-stirthepot

ANNNNNNDDDD...no charges. Nothing to see here.

Once again, we have a fairly high profile school with allegations of impermissible cash benefits that leads to, well, nothing all because it was untraceable cash - cash that nobody actually saw change hands. Hide it in a coffee cup or in a hat left on a bench seat in a restaurant. Plausible deniability.

At least the kid is actually in some dang on classes... jeeze.

I can think of a thousand worse ways that $$ has been used to lure recruits...and worse ways free schooling has been used to lure them.

A P5 school engaged in questionable recruiting practices? I'm shocked! Shocked, I tell you!

Tosh followed Andy Staples' rules. Except for #3, but it didn't cost him this time.

IDK about that. I'd say that #3 might very well be in place, otherwise there would be more squealers other than one disgruntled guy.
