Illinois: Tim Beckman announced today that Bill Cubit has agreed to a one-year contract extension that includes a pay increase to $500,000 annually. The extension takes him through the 2015 season.

As they say in CMU country, "500k, do you know how much money that is?". Seriously, good for him, he was a big part of WMU football for over 12 years, eight as HC if memory serves me correctly. Nice to see him go on and do well.

He earned it with his performance this past year. Happy for the man.

Obviously Beckman was not too upset with their sideline dispute during the season.

Cubit is doing what he should be. He is more OC material than HC material. And he proved that in taking the Illini offense from dismal to respectable in 1 season ( I believe it was like 108th to 33rd, at one point).

The question might be will he make it to 2015 with Beckman. They better start winning or the HC is gonna get broomed.

BC$ guys like cubit can get multiple year deals like this so either way it is a cool million for his retirement fund. In addition to the 400 grand this year. Would be interesting to see how many years it took him as head coach at WMU before he made 1.4 million?

Seriously, I still like and admire folks I knew or worked up to 45 years ago.

Why would we stop caring about a person simply because they don't work at WMU anymore?

This was a positive thread talking good about a guy who was a big part of WMU football for over 12 years. Chillax Stampede.
