Looks like a great hire. MAC defenses may give up 70 once he gets things rolling.

Great hire, I would've been thrilled if that's the guy we went with instead of Martin.

Seems to be a good hire. He gets to go from an NFL QB and Payton award winner at EIU to another good QB situation with Johnson at BG.

I badly worded that; I meant to say that even if we didn't hire Martin, I would've been thrilled if we hired Babers. I personally love the Martin hire, he looks like the guy who'll help Miami football get back to where we've been historically. I'd be happy if I were a BG fan, he should continue the success the Falcons have experienced as of late.

Good thing they didn't hire the guy who is the interim coach. On the local sports segment, they showed him saying, "This is the best job in the MAC Conference." 03-banghead 04-chairshot

I've been to EIU. The campus aesthetic is similar to BG's. The guy should know what he needs to do.

But what's this about losing to Towson? That coach has it going on.

He was my top choice to be EMU's head coach, he did interview don't know the entire story whether we rejected him or he rejected us.

Its a great hire for Bowling Green.

I was hoping for Studrawa or Durkin...two guys with coordinator level experience at winning programs in the SEC and they're both BGSU alums as players and assistants. But...AD Chris Kingston wanted someone with HC experience and Babers has that and a great resume as an assistant.

Dave Clawson did a great job recruiting (that 2011 class in particular) and retaining talented players. Coach Babers is in a position to have an exceptional 2-3 year run with the talent we have on hand. I suspect we'll be revisiting this process in 2016...

I got the impression that he was holding out for the best MAC job available. I know Miami was considering him, but it's very possible that he said no thanks to us if he had a feeling that BG or Ball State would open up fairly soon. Once Clawson left, it was just an easy choice of whether to go to EMU or BG.

Rob Ambrose (Towson's coach) might be as good as gone as well...although all reports about him are that he's a grade A D-O-U-C-H-E.

I can see Ambrose doing big (big for Rutgers) things if he does go there.

Well, if he does well he won't be around long, so there's that.
