6'9" 350/ wow!.......good to have another Birmingham city kid on the team too.

We are in on some pretty good defensive linemen. keep your fingers crossed.

I can remember when the signing of a player that size was extraordinary (Farah Montgomery) and created a measure of awe. That size today is not so much out of the ordinary among players. Maybe our conditioning programs (at the JUCO level at least) have adjusted to such body mass players that they are not considered so freakish as they were years ago..

I wonder if our coaches have considered putting Mr. Clements on defense ? On paper, there is no way that any offensive coordinator doesn't think he would need a double team.

How in the world can a QB even see over/around a guy that size?

My thinking exactly. Put him at middle linebacker and tell him to jump up right behind the noseguard and wave his arms every passing play. Then play a wide 2-deep with press man on the outside.

He would take up the middle 1/4 of the field.

Put Clements at DE on the opposite side from Jimmy Jean and force the QB to throw to Jean's side if he wants to see to throw.

Did he play any DL in HS? Position switch make him a Wilfork of the NE Pats to plug up the middle & use a lb blitz off him if the O want to double him?

I'm excited to see the new recruits / commitments and I hope we sign all that UAB really wants on 2/5/14. They will make great birthday presents for me. This class is shaping up to be one of the best in UAB FB history.

The easiest way to stop the pass is block the pass before it goes down field.
DT is a great idea. Human wall up front. Double team no doubt.

The best pass defense is a prone QB or one running for his life looking for a place to dump the ball. We have given opposing QBs too much time to find open receivers these last few seasons and they have the TDs to prove it.

I thought it was kinda funny on his Hudl video they kept doing the circle highlight on him before every play. Like we can't find someone that large :)

The young man will really benefit from the intense offseason program. Obviously he's used to just being so much bigger than everyone else no one has really worked on his technique. He loses 30 pounds his footwork will be worlds better. He'll be playing against guys that are every bit as big and strong and there will be an adjustment period.

We have the 2nd lowest rated football class on 247spots right above Charlotte as far as average player rating goes. For other recruiting websites we are sitting anywhere from bottom to middle of the pack in the average rating category (the important category). The 4 most recent commits boosted us a decent bit out of the worst recruiting class spot, but it's still not looking like a good class just yet.
