This is such a roller coaster ride season for the Lady rockets. Lay an egg vs. Valpo at home, but then steel one from the Bonnies at their house. Signs of a young but talented team. It all depends on what team shows up on any given night.

The Rockets team that played today wasn't young. Three seniors, a junior, and a red-shirt sophomore played between 32 and 38 minutes. Four freshmen played a total of 26 minutes and scored 0 points.

Ana was 3-4 on three pointers. We need that. Wish she would shoot more often.

Let's hope this win propels the team. It would have been easy to give up move on to the next game. Credit Coach Cullop for getting her team fired up and push through and not give up. The defense, while pretty good the entire game, really stepped it up down the home stretch and, in turn, fueled the offense. Best win of the year. I'm looking for dividends.

Box score attendance at the home of the 8-3 (now 8-4) St. Bonaventure was listed at 335. I can't even imagine what it's like supporting a team that only gets 335 at a game, especially when their team is doing pretty well. All I can say is…thank God I'm a Lady Rocket fan!!

OK, maybe the more correct reply instead of young was inexperienced. This team may have a few upperclasswomen, but their playing experience is relatively nil. Any we do have a lot of freshmen getting playing time. Andola, Imma and Jones are the only players who made significant contributions in previous years.

335 may not equal our fan tunnel.

Yes, I see your point. Reed-Lewis has evolved from a bit player to a confident play-maker, and Capotosto has made huge strides as well. I love the way Reed-Lewis wants the ball in her hands and drives aggressively at the end of close games. Against Valpo, even though we lost, I saw the same thing.
My point was just that we're going to have to quit bragging about how great our freshman class is and what a great future we have if Cullop decides that the freshmen aren't good enough to get much time, which could happen if Recker gets healthy.
But when you win, as we did yesterday, you don't have to talk about the future.

This team only has 6 non-freshman players available so I am pretty sure that at least several (if not most) freshman are going to see significant floor time as the season goes on, particularly those who improve their defensive skills-----the season is too long, not to utilize them even if the team is lucky enough to sustain no additional injuries and manages to avoid excessive foul trouble. Last year as a red shirt freshman Ana didn't see significant floor time because there were about 10 experienced players ahead of her, but that is not the case this year.
What Ball State was able to do last year with a very short bench is the exception, not the rule. Any team that hopes to be successful come tourney time needs players who do not all have "tired legs".

There isn't one frosh who hasn't contributed along the way this year. Look at the minutes so far compared to those of the last couple classes. Olivia has been a force on the boards at times, Elena and Hailey are probably our best outside threats, Janice had a couple big games although they came early, and Sophie has had moments as well. Noot too woriried that this trend won't continue
