Intentional foul
I can understand how grabbing a jersey of a guy who has beaten you for a lay up full court as being an intentional foul. However i cannot understand why going to a guy and grabbing him around the waist without even making a play for the ball is not.

Intentional foul
They called one on CDR vs Ohio St in the elite 8.

It was the weakest intentional foul call in history

That was the turning point of that game.

RE: Intentional foul
In one situation you are committing a foul bc you can't make a play to stop a scoring opportunity. The other situation you are committing a foul to conserve time. In the second, you are in a position to make a play and did not use excessive force.

RE: Intentional foul
As far as I understand, there is no such thing as an "intentional foul" call anymore.

There's either "Flagrant 1" or "Flagrant 2"

RE: Intentional foul
The wording was changed from "intentional" to "flagrant 1" and the definition was expanded.

Ohio State should have never been in that game. Xavier had them beat.

it is an flagrant foul, and one was even called the other night in our game. Shaq was going for a basket, the other guy had no chance, so he just bear hugged him keeping Shaq's arms at his side. Ref immediately called the flagrant.
