Louisville Russell Athletic Bowl Ticket Sales
Jennifer Heisey of the UofL Alumni Association just said on local radio that Louisville has sold over 8,000 tickets of its 12,000 allotment. She seemed confident that UofL would sell out its first allotment and ask for more.
Said there would be a impressive contingent of Louisville fans in Orlando. Also said that the RAB was doing some nice things to help Louisville fans watch a basketball game the same afternoon.

It was on Jody's Early Birds show. He replayed the interview with Jennifer on his Cardinal Insider program last night. You can probably get the podcast at the WKRD web site.

BTW I confirmed the number with Jody on the pay forum of CA last night. I wanted to make sure I heard the correct number.

Otto will be there. That's about it. Same for us - expect the mascot. Maybe a stray cheerleader.

That few? Come on, that can't be right. Isn't FSU playing for the national "championship" or something?

That few? Come on. Most diehards making the trip will not be buying there tickets through the school. You get better seats from the bowl or on secondary outlets.

To put some perspective on that, there are 33 FBS stadiums, including 2 in the ACC, that couldn't fill those requests based on listed capacity.

We have nearly sold out of our allotted tickets for the Russell Athletic Bowl. Additionally, surrounding sections NOT given to the school are selling quickly. Our sideline will be filled in quite nicely come the 28th.

RE: Louisville Russell Athletic Bowl Ticket Sales
I've bolded some excerpts in red that is news and that has, just now, been confirmed instead of being just speculation.

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/sports...svi/ncSn3/

Quote:The game is also unique in this regard: the Cardinals will make their ACC debut next year and are scheduled to face Miami. Conference-mates rarely face each other in bowl games.

“We are playing a quality opponent,” Louisville coach Charlie Strong said Monday, following his team’s practice at Orlando’s First Academy. “We are playing an opponent that will be on our schedule next year with us going into the ACC. It’s big. This is a program that has a lot of tradition, and we’re trying to get there. It’s going to be a measuring stick for just how far we need to come.”

PrimeSport, the official ticket and hospitality provider for the Russell Athletic Bowl, said its special-package sales are up 416 percent over last year. PrimeSport’s average ticket price is $124, which is 7 percent higher than last year’s prices.

As expected, Florida and Kentucky are the leading states, according to Daniel Almond, publicity and events director for PrimeSport. The Louisville market jumped on tickets first, but last week, the Miami market surpassed Louisville in sales, Almond said.

An in-state game and an easy drive from South Florida means a strong Hurricanes presence is expected.

“We’re excited about playing here,” Miami coach Al Golden said after his team’s Monday practice at the Citrus Bowl. “I don’t think it’s a home game. I think both fan bases will be represented.”

Louisville spokesman Rocco Gasparo said slightly more than 11,000 of the school’s 12,500-ticket allotment had been sold. Miami spokesman Chris Freet couldn’t share specifics, but said UM still had “a large block of tickets” left from its 13,500. Schools were given seats in the corners of the lower bowl.

Monday evening, 851 tickets were still available on StubHub.com. The lowest price was $44, for seats in an upper corner of the stadium. The most expensive ticket, for field-level seats behind the Louisville bench, was $2,900. However, most lower-bowl spots ranged in price from $100-200.

Another source confirming Miami vs UofL to kickoff 2014 ACC season for UofL:

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/os...2612.story

Quote:Bridgewater downplays the idea this game means any more than any other game on Louisville's schedule. On the field that might be the case, but off it, it's a chance for the Cardinals to make a big statement as the program prepares to move into the Atlantic Coast Conference next season. And UL's first conference opponent will be the Miami Hurricanes.

"We don't have the mindset that it is a big game because they are going to be on the schedule next year," Bridgewater said. "We're just going to treat it like any other game."

Whether Bridgewater will be around for the matchup is another story.
