I think their man is coaching the 49ers.

Harbaugh or anyone with a winning loaded NFL Team leaving the NFL for a College Job....uh, NO...right now it is being reported that Mack Brown will be back next season.

Looking forward to seeing riots in Austin on the news.

Very few college jobs are better than the pros. But Texas just happens to be one. Besides that, Harbaugh could become a legendary football coach in college. In the NFL. Most coaches end up getting burned out and fired way before they reach that status.

Harbaugh just seems to me to be perfectly suited to being a college coach. He is a great coach so of course he is finding some success in the NFL but he also has a great team. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see him come back down to the college ranks. I think the timing may be off right now but when a position such as the Head Coach at Texas comes along, you can't necessarily be picky about the timing.

That's no more reliable than the reports the last 4 months he was leaving. I suspect he's leaving and that its been decided in the last month or so. We'll see.

Saban was too old to start over at Texas, IMO. I think the Longhorns should've grabbed Gus Malzahn...

Another issue with Harbaugh is that he could be coaching until NLI Signing Day....the 49ers could easily go back to the Super Bowl or at worst the NFC Title Game.

They still could. Mack Brown stepped down today.

Since when does a contract mean anything in sports?

I've yet to see a college coach jump just days or weeks after signing an extension.

Steve Alford, new mexico 10 year extension to UCLA in about a week. I wouldn't be shocked to see saban take the texas job and go out and say something like "after reflecting my future over the holidays, i felt like the texas job was something i would like to pursue" blah, blah, blah.

New Mexico to UCLA is a monumental jump.
Auburn to Texas isn't. Alabama to Texas is a lateral. Baylor to Texas is far less of a jump than New Mexico to UCLA.
Still, I wasn't aware of that one. Thanks.

Recently, New Mexico to UCLA basketball is about like Northern Illinois to Texas football. I would definitely seeing that as a publicly permissible break of contract akin to what happened with Alford to UCLA. Alford did get grilled in the short term, but it is a non-issue now to everyone except probably the Lobos.
