It's not a whole department, it's a "program". There's no chair, it's led by a "director" who makes much less than a chair. The faculty generally are adjuncts to the AAS program and primarily teach elsewhere. The last director I know of was a professor in the School of Business or something like that. At least in the past I think the only full time staff was the director and a secretary, and the secretary was shared with another department or two.
