We're a paragon of stability compared to ASU. Really getting ridiculous.

As long as we keep winning conference championships, we'll gladly take any instability it brings.
Ridiculous? Yes, but I think most of our fans have accepted this as a sort of annual thing, and have figured out that pocketing hefty buyouts is an interesting way to increase your overall athletic budget.

Thanks. We plan on beating you out for that BCS spot sometime soon and really enjoying the spoils of war.
Then, we'll hire another head coach.

I think ASU has a good program going, but do you really think the Sunbelt SOS will be strong enough to outbid the MAC? The MAC has had a team ranked in the top 25 at some point in the season since for over a decade.

Depends on the OOC schedule. You guys get your points from the MAC for sure, but it was the Iowa win and last years results that had NIU on the edge of busting. If you played Podunk U every year in OOC, you'd never bust.
Lets take 2015 for example: ASU plays Missouri at home, USC on the road, and Toledo on the road. Our conference schedule could be awful, but if we won those three games, we'd certainly be in the thick of the race against anyone.
Do I actually think we'll win all those games? No, but I am using it as an example.

A lot of Sunbelt programs play SEC non conferences games. Go 12-0 and you may get a post BCS system major bowl bid.

It's one of those things, as long as you're winning it doesn't matter, and ASU's been winning. Like with us though, eventually you guess wrong on the next coach you bring in.

That is our one big worry every year. No one wants to pull a Southern Miss. For that reason, I don't think we'll ever hire a defensive coach.

Yep a wrong guess can set you back 5 years, since you will probably give the fail coach 3 years to prove himself than you will need 2 years to rebuild after hes gone.

It's pretty impressive you've been able to win as much as you have with a new coach each year. I'm assuming you've pretty much kept the schemes the same? Also, I believe this is your first year post-Aplin?

We've kept the Same DC in John Thompson for a couple years, always try to retain at least one offensive coach from the previous staff, try to keep a similar version of the HUNH spread, and make sure both retainees have Arkansas ties. Rest are on the coach.
First year post Aplin yes. Ironically, we are talking now about bringing him back as a coach. He's on staff at Ole Miss now. Our QB this year is a good player, but we still miss Aplin. My guess is you guys will go through similar withdraws with Jordan Lynch.

Maybe... maybe not... We thought that when Harnish left, but Jordan Lynch proved to be a monster.

No doubt. I just don't know how much better you can do than one of the top 5 players in the country.

Now, folks, you can argue about stealing BCS bids all you want, BUT there's no such thing in about a month :)
