RE: CBS Sports Bowl Previews & Predictions
OK, so let's use that to kick off a discussion on the HoD Bowl.
All of our bowls are important to C-USA, but beating the Mountain West representative is a must for the conference as is any game against another G5 representative. And I think the Greenies are up for it. The North Texas defense is very good, and Chancellor can run the ball very well. (I wasn't aware that your red zone defense was so highly ranked.) I don't know a lot about UNLV, but I do know they play an up tempo offense, but that is something that North Texas has seen a couple of times, in conference, so I don't think that should bother you. One of the keys to North Texas is fan support. If you can pack the stadium with your folks you should take care of the Rebels. But I do think that "12th man" effect is going to be important. Are you expecting a large turnout?

Understand that students were lined up to purchase tickets at a special student price of $25.00 vs the 75.00 others will pay. Around 1,800 sold the first day. Regular priced tickets are also reported to be moving very well. Should be a lot of green there

RE: CBS Sports Bowl Previews & Predictions
The Cotton Bowl (stadium) seats 92,000. so selling that out is out of the question. The last 3 HOD Bowl games have had P5 opponents and most of those game drew crowds in the 40K to mid 40K range as I recall.
If we have an Indian summer sort of day on New Years Day (instead of 4 inches of solid ice on our interstates as we did last week), I think we'll have a pretty good crowd even w/o a Big 10 or Big 12 opponent. UNLV is a good and most formidable opponent. Not sure how many fans they bring, though.
Said it before, but in our last bowl cycle last decade we took 17,000 for a Tuesday night bowl game down to the Big Easy, ie, an easy 8-9 hours away from our alumnus base in DFW, so I think you'll see a 'sea of mean green' for the HOD Bowl.

RE: CBS Sports Bowl Previews & Predictions
As Gem said, we couldn't give away enough free tickets to fill the monstrous Cotton Bowl. Ticket sales have been good early but I'm sure that a lot of people are waiting for a weather report before deciding how many to purchase. Hopefully, we can put about 40K in the stadium with reasonably good weather.
UNLV is reesponsible for purchasing about 5,000 tickets but we don't expect more than a thousand to actually show.
Without a Big 10 opponent we certainly won't set any attendance records but look on the good side...we're 6.5-7 point favorites.
