Construction on the Nippert Stadium renovation will begin on or around Dec. 16 when the press box, which was built in 1991 during the last renovation and was a significant improvement over the old one, will be torn down.

But 22 years later, with the UC football program having progressed to a stage that could have been only dreamed of back then, the press box – which is frequently way too small for the number of reporters covering the games – has become a symbol of what’s wrong with a stadium that still exudes charm but badly needs an upgrade into the modern era of college football.

“That will be the first thing to knock down,” said UC athletic director Whit Babcock.”I was hoping for a big explosion to knock that down.”

First off thanks for the link.

Second is did some of the seats already get ripped out? It looks like they have but it is hard to tell from the from the camera's distance. Can anybody clarify that?

I saw them taking the temporary chairbacks off some of the seats as I was leaving work today, if that's what you mean.

Some of the benches on the press box side have indeed been removed.

Yes, salvage has begun. This is a very demanding project in a very tight time frame.

Was he? Good deal. He missed 4 out of 6 that I saw and then I had to run. Maybe our new FG kicker next year, who knows?

Construction always seems late IMO. Nice shot of the snow falling right now.

They've got almost two years to get this thng done. I'm sure there's a lot of wiggle room in the construction schedule. Right now on the web cam it looks like they're making the world's biggest litter box...
