GameDay: Green Bay
This game and Oakland are critical because they come during the middle of a seven game stretch which is brutal.

I just hope the team doesn't come up flat for these two games and end up with a 7-game losing streak which would be mostly to scheduling.

The good thing is at this time of season (year) there are nice breaks in the schedule and teams do bounce back after very tough games.

This is a HUGE game. Beating a good team is an absolute must for our confidence. A loss and things could escalate quickly, in the wrong direction.

Sir, 04-cheers, I agree with you 100%.

Teams which play too hard a schedule sometimes loses games they would win with a more balanced schedule.

For Hoopster, if you reading this:

Oakland plays Indiana tonight on national television.

A chance to see a future foe and some of Hoopster's recruiting favorites.

Dear Friends,
I'm planning on attending the game tonight. I hope to see a win, and I think this team can do it. I'm not a basketball guru, so I won't be able to explain ins and outs of what certain players are doing, but hope to give some kind of review of the game.

RE: GameDay: Green Bay
They're big. Really big. Even if you take 7'1 Alec Brown out of the mix, they still have 6'9, 6'7, and two at 6'6 in their front court. Rarely are we the small team, and that will happen tonight.

However, ironically, their leading scorer is the 5'10 PG Keifer Sykes. He's somehow shooting 50% from the field on 14 shots a game, despite shooting 24% from deep. Obviously he can get to the rack, but he might have trouble against the zone.

As a team, they don't really shoot that well from outside. Brown is one of their better 3-point shooters...I'll gladly let him take them.

This should be a winnable game for us. Green Bay is a very good team, but we matchup well with them. Plus, they're coming off a big home win...could be due for a letdown.

I agree with Bob. We really need a good win to boost our confidence. After letting two straight slip away from us (against better teams, no less), I think we get one tonight.

FWIW, WI-GB is a 1.5 point favorite. We are the underdog at home.

That's better than I expected. I figured GB would be a 6 point favorite, or something around there.

What I'm looking for most is Mike Talley to have a big game. Murphy kinda called out the PGs after the Purdue game, saying that the PG minutes "are up for grabs". I think Talley is clearly the best one we have, but he's been forcing things. Hopefully he settles down and gets other guys going, because he's phenomenal in transition and a one-man press break (UMass stopped pressing us pretty quickly in the first half of that game). Ross is a serviceable point, and looks like he has improved, but Talley should take this job by the balls. We really need him to start playing well.

I have watched UW GB a few times this year (mostly during the Great Alaska Shootout) and I wasn't too impressed. If we lose to this team I will be highly disappointed.

Yes this and the Oakland game are good markers of progress of the program. I don't expect us to win against Kentucky or UMass or Purdue but I think the team did better than expected in all those games. I really want to see team jell on all the fundemental that they seem to miss each game: solid free throws, a good assist to turnover, out rebound the other team Riley avoiding foul trouble and playing a solid zone. One or more of those elements seems to be missing in each of the recent losses.

I want to see Talley take the reigns and lead this team. All good teams have to have a solid, dependable PG. I don't think you can really be a good team without one. Talley, lead this team and put Ward and Bryant in position to get easy hoops. All I want Riley to do is keep swatting and altering shots and stay out of foul trouble. If this team learns to play smart, it can win the MAC. It starts tonight with a smart, workmanlike victory over a very solid team.

RE: GameDay: Green Bay
I found a copy of GB v. Pepperdine.

Pre-game hype was the PG, Sykes, who lit up Wisconsin. Big test for Talley.

GB is using a 1-2-1 press. Also uses a zone.

Big guy, Alec Brown, likes to shoot from behind the arc.

Our guard play is the key they need to drive and kick back out not drive and shoot. I expects the same number of fans or a few more tonight as last home game.

I watched the replay of the Purdue game (wasn't able to view it live) and noticed that Harrison had his sweats on.

Is he injured? He isn't in the starting lineup tonight.

Yeah he hurt his shoulder in the first half I believe. Tried playing again in the 2nd half but couldn't go. Only played 8 minutes. Not sure if he's a go tonight.

Up 11-9 at the second tv timeout. Ward picking up right where he left off.

Very nice run! EMU up 10 with 5:26 left in the first half. Defense and rebounding have both been terrific thus far.
