For anyone who wants to see how Utah State plays, they are replaying the MW Champ. game on CBSSN (channel 418) for people in the Western Sub.

I was watching it until my I got booted for my kid's show before bed time. Anyhow, Fresno State kind of man handled them the first half, but I know the end result was a close game.

Any one know if their QB (who is actually 2nd string) Garretson is going to be back? He is a freshman but must obviously be better than the junior 3rd stringer that steps in. I believe he had a head injury, so he should be back as it was probably a mild concussion or a stinger or something.

He didn't look bad at all really.

RE: USU Depth Chart
I watched a lot of the MWC live Saturday night and Fresno was 2 yards away from putting the game out at 24 - 0 at half. Utah State ran a fumble back for a TD 98 yards to make it 17 - 7 at the half. I also don't believe they scored their first offensive TD until the fourth quarter. My initial thoughts are we need to get out on them early (which is tough for us) and protect the football. I think we match up well though.

A few USU fans did say they have a hard time scoring since they lost Keeton and many other starters this year. Fresno defense isn't exactly a juggernaut, so this bodes well for our much maligned D. USU defense is good, but if we have Brown and TLL, I think our offense will be ok. Just have to hope we want it more than them. I think with Ward and Lynch, we'll be ready.

I don't see how this doesn't end up like the MACC....almost identical type opponent, great defense, blah offense that somehow looked like world beaters against us

I disagree. I think the team will come out relaxed and the coaches will make the necessary adjusments. This game marks the last time many of our guys will take the field and also will help carry momentum into the offseason. NIU football is not defined by one game, no top notch program is. All good programs lose games. We will get back up and win again and I expect us to play hard and pull out a W. Utah State is a very good opponent but its not like we have never beaten a very good team before.

RE: USU Depth Chart
I have no idea how the Huskies will perform in their bowl game. It will say a lot about the coaches if they can get the players to perform well after such a demoralizing loss. I'm hoping they don't have a Toledo type meltdown and completely disappear in a very winnable game. We know Rod does not taking losing well, so I am interested to see how he does. He had eight months to get over the Orange Bowl and prepare for Iowa, but this time he has about two and a half weeks. There is still a huge accomplish for the team with a win, becoming the first Huskies team to win 13 games in a season.
