Toledo shut out
I was surprised to see our fellow conference member Toledo shut out of a bowl bid. This was probably part of the domino effect of us losing out on the BCS game. So the cost to the conference is probably greater than the 8 mil stated as they won't be going anywhere. This is probably a case where if we had the bowl structure in place with our guarentees for next year, they would have went someplace.

Personally I don't care for them but I felt the seniors on their team, Owens and Fluellen deserved better.

Yes, and I feel for their fans too.

No cost to the conference. OU is taking their place and pay.

Yeah...I feel for flu since he was hurt, but Owens made his bed by contributing to the loss at Akron, among others.

Toledo was a big snub from the Bowl selections. A bigger snub was WKU, 8-4 with some pretty good wins outside of the conference and they are staying home for the season.

They can thank Bobby Petrino for that.

But according to MD, Toledo's AD is so awesome at all things football. How could he let his team get passed over for *shudder* Ohio?

Thats because WKU is leaving the sun belt, and the conf did everything they could to keep them out.

Im not sure how the conference would benefit by not having WKU in a Bowl game.

Is WKU joining the AAC or C-USA?

+1. Doesn't seem right for them to miss out.

UT has no one to blame but themselves. If they wanted to secure a bowl bid, they should have beat Akron (or NIU...or Ball St). This is what happens when you don't show up for a game vs. a team that you think you'll destroy (like Akron).
