Coaching Hires-
As of right now -Monday 12/9 at 2:55 PM- I'm willing to bet that:

(1) Clawson winds up being the coach at Wake, primarily due to his success at Richmond and at BGSU this year.
(2) Narduzzi winds up being the HC at UConn.
(3) Bryan Harsin takes the Boise State job and has Justin Wilcox join him as DC; in other words, Boise ain't going away, like some would hope.
(4) Mack Brown comes back for one last season in Austin.
(5) Pete Lembo will not move until after next season. I'm thinking that a place like Kansas State would be perfect for him...

Wyoming (hiring Bohls) made a statement in hiring Bohls. I would love to see the Pokes win a MWC title in the near future!

So far the big winners appear to be Washington and Wyoming...

(1) Small private school in the ACC, hiring a former Tennessee offensive coordinator -- it worked for Duke.
(2) Too soon to say. It would be surprising if Narduzzi has no interviews other than UConn.
(3) I'm gonna guess that Wilcox gets the Boise HC job. If he doesn't, he's going to be the DC at USC next year.
(4) Lame-duck status won't work. Either Mack returns, and nothing is said about next year, or they buy him out now.
(5) Lembo doesn't seem to be at the top of anyone's list right now. Might still be some more dominoes to move if Mack Brown is out.

Right on Wilcox, Wedge. He left the sinking ship at Tennessee under Dooley to go to Washington. He will get an elite DC or a good head coaching job. It may not be Boise, but it would be an MWC level gig.

Lembo has continued to recruit North Carolina since he left Elon.
Wake Forest would be lucky to land him as their new head football coach.

RE: Coaching Hires-
The Petersen hire is a very good one, as is the Bohl hiring at Wyoming... but the Pokes also went with Joe Glenn (the former coach at Montana) and that did not go so well, so who knows? My gut tells me that Bohls is "the real deal" and after watching them against KSU earlier this year, I would agree. I do think that Wyoming would be a tough place to win, but NDSU would have finished in the middle pf the pack of the MWC this year with FCS talent, which is exactly where Wyoming finished up. There's no telling what he'll be able to do with FBS talent.

If Wake can snag either Clawson or Lembo, it would be huge for them. I'm particularly high on Clawson; he built the program at Richmond "from the ground up" starting with the defense and he also is not set on one particular offensive philosophy, much like Petersen. He'll take the players he has and put them into the best position to succeed. If that means running the ball 50 times a game, so be it. If he throws the ball 50 times a game, so be it; he just wins, period.

Lots of rumors going around tonight that Wake decided on Clawson over Lembo for its new coach.

They both seem like really good candidates. It will be interesting to follow their careers to see if our AD picked the right one.

RE: Coaching Hires-
This is good news for Wake.

Next year's team is not going to be good. If the Deacs are patient (which they should be), Clawson will have them bowling within the next three years; after that, they will see a lot of year-in and year-out consistent winning.

I don't think Wake is his last job. If he builds Wake into a 9-10 game winner by year 4-5, that will be the 4th program he has built from the ground up. Some major power who has fallen on hard times will hire him away from Wake.

Clawson is a great hire for Wake but he will have a hard time winning 9 games with FSU, Clemson ,Louisville on the schedule yearly, not to mention BC,SYR &Duke

That's the same thing people said about Grobe. If Clawson has success here, Wake will pony up the money to keep him.

His experience at Tennessee might temper his desire to work for a major power as well.

But even if he does move on after achieving the results you suggest, our candidate pool for finding a replacement will be much bigger than it was this time.
