What did Bo always say. Championships are won in November. What was our record. We were in the position to control our destiny and couldn't.

Good point. Maybe practices hadn't been going so well.

RE: No Bowl for Rockets
The question is not if they deserve to go to a bowl game. It's which undeserving teams get to go to a bowl game anyway. It's been established that on field results can be overlooked in favor of other bottom line factors. So I can understand Buffalo. Pretty confused about Ohio U. though. Who is going to want to purchase a commercial to be aired in the second half of that game??? At least all of our games have been exciting till the very end.

I'll admit a lack of knowledge on Ohio U. athletics but I've driven through Athens and it didn't take long. Is there some huge alumni following that I'm missing here? Is a Mickey Tettleton sighting really that much of a draw? Because really the only advantage I can possibly think of is that viewers might accidentally tune in thinking they're actually Ohio State.

Ohio U averaged around 4,500 more per game in attendance than we did this year.

This is what we' re sayin'. Snubbed in favor of both OH and Buffalo? Maybe I have my tin foil on too tight again, but something is really odd about this.

Actually, they averaged just over 2,000 more. 20,672 for OU vs. 18,467 for UT.

Well, 4,500 or 2,000, that's your answer, along with the 100 or so in last years potato game. But thanks Toledo for your support. This ones on the fans too.

2,000 difference in attendance will not make or break a bowl invite. And go find out how many people OU had in Boise when they played in the Potato Bowl a couple years ago. I bet it was very similar to UT.

RE: No Bowl for Rockets
It's irritating and frustrating that we have the advantage of a metropolitan area with half a million people and we can't even put more butts into our relatively tiny stadium than they do in Athens, Ohio where most of them need to put gas in their tank and drive there. There shouldn't be any question who the class of this sorry conference is. But we make it highly questionable.

RE: No Bowl for Rockets
1] Toledo would of accepted a bowl game if offered.
2] Sometimes if you are left at the alter, your comments are a defense mechanism [player tweet]
3] No team would turn down a bowl, if for no other reason the practice time given to young players.
4] Toledo admin and coaching staff in no way suggested that we didn't want a bowl. Now, the MAC office in our corner.....doubtful.
5] The set up allows bowls to pick, so we need to ask them. But, of course expect an answer that we won't like or actually will boost the attitude of some posters on here.

That, and earlier he mentioned that he hoped the Bowl Gods blessed Toledo or something to that effect. After the Akron game he tweeted that he hoped he hadn't played his last game as a Rocket. The original post was taken badly out of context.

RE: No Bowl for Rockets
Some OU fans are delusional. Looking at their message board, some are saying they were picked over UT because of their band, b/c they've won 2 bowls in a row, b/c they supposedly have a better national brand, b/c of Solich, b/c their QB Tyler Tettleton (I think that's his first name) is known nationally, etc. Seriously? These people have to be joking.

RE: No Bowl for Rockets
Perhaps MOB will have insight at Downtown Coaches at noon tomorrow? MBG's post of the OU fan comments are certainly interesting...lets face it, there is no science here...a bowl can use any reason for a +/- on a team pick...most honest/accurate post of the thread is that we controlled our destination going into November and did not make it happen. Let it rest, recruit well and get back to work in winter. MBB and WBB will make the winter go real fast this year. Go Rockets!
