I think we'll get a few votes in the coaches poll. IIRC, we did at the end of the 2008 season as well.

I hope we get some votes, but we don't belong in the top-25. Not yet.

In other news, Duke is getting punked by FSU. I'm glad that is happening, because I was afraid that they would play FSU close and grab all the headlines. Of our peers, I dislike Duke the most by far. And Durham is hell on earth.

OU pissed in OSU's Cheerios, and in doing so handed the Big XII title to Baylor. Ugh.

Stanford doused Toad's Dumb Devils with cold water. That I like.

Here's to hoping that MSU holds off OSU, because I want FSU to have to play Auburn for the title. Fair or not, beating the $EC champ is the only way for a team to prove itself worthy of being #1 in the current world of college football.

For now, I would be happy to be be "also receiving votes:, but after we win the LB, I would like to see us ranked.

Agreed. You'd think we'd at least get the oh-so-important votes that ECU got that went to Marshall after the Herd crushed the Pirates.

I don't dislike any of our peers. Duke, Stanford, Vandy, Northwestern spent the last 40 years doing what they needed to do. They took care of business. We didn't.

Winning a conference championship is a step toward taking care of business. If we continue to take care of business by winning more of them, adding basketball to football to baseball, then we have a good shot to end up in the XII when the XII decides that if it's going to call itself the XII then it ought to have XII members. TU, OU, and Okie State may be gone by then, making the XII look a lot like the AAC, but that's still probably our best and most likely upgrade destination.

Next step is to win another. 2014 is going to be critical to the future of this program, one way or the other. Next step after that is to win basketball. And then another. Somewhere in there, and quickly, we have to decide whether Braun is the guy to get it done in basketball. But winning championships is how we attract the attention of the big boys.
